  1. 6. Experimental design and vortex analyses in turbulent wake flows

    Author : Bengt E. G. Fallenius; Jens H. M. Fransson; Henrik Alfredsson; Marianna Braza; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; bluff bodies; wake flow; experimental design; vortex detection; flow control; asymptotic suction boundary layer;

    Abstract : A new experimental setup for studies on wake flow instability and its control that successfully has been designed and manufactured, is introduced and de- scribed. The main body is a dual-sided flat plate with an elliptic leading edge and a blunt trailing edge. READ MORE

  2. 7. Laser Diagnostics and Chemical Modeling of Combustion and Catalytic Processes

    Author : Michael Försth; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; catalysis; platinum; OH; elastic light scattering; planar LIF; fuel spray; surface reactions; imaging; Chemkin; hydroxyl; stagnation flow; gas-phase chemistry;

    Abstract : The H2+1/2O2 H2O reaction on hot platinum surfaces has been studied. A stagnation flow geometry was used with a gas mixture of H2 and O2 at subatmospheric pressures. READ MORE

  3. 8. Numerical Simulation of Turbulent Flows for Turbine Blade Heat Transfer Applications

    Author : Jonas Larsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; k-.omega.; k-.epsilon.; explicit Runge-Kutta; finite volume; turbine; numerical method; non-linear; Navier-Stokes; supersonic; two-equation; external heat transfer; stagnation flow; two-dimensional; transition; low-Reynolds; turbulence model; impulse blade;

    Abstract : Turbine blade heat transfer is an important engineering problem characterized by complex flow fields and high turbulence levels. This thesis is focused on using a full Navier-Stokes solver with two-equation eddy-viscosity models to predict external heat-transfer in single-stage, linear, two-dimensional uncooled turbine cascades. 5. 10. Analysis of the Performance of Different V2F Turbulence Models in a Stator Vane Passage Flow

    Author : Andreas Sveningsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heat transfer; RANS; realizability; V2F; stator flow;

    Abstract : When designing the cooling system of modern gas turbines it is important to be able to predict the heat transfer from the hot gas to the walls surrounding the gas path. One flow feature making this rather complicated is the presence of secondary, three-dimensional flow structures, often referred to as horse shoe vortices, which greatly enhance the rate of heat transfer to the endwall, especially in the leading edge region.
