  1. 1. Development of a new service-oriented modelling method for information systems analysis and design

    Author : Prima Gustiené; Anders G Nilsson; Sten Carlsson; William Wei Song; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Information systems analysis and design; conceptual modeling; service orientation; semantic integrity; static and dynamic aspects; goal modeling.; Informatics; Informatik; Information Systems; Informatik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a new modelling method for information systems analysis and design, where the concept of service and the principles of service orientation are used for integrated modelling and reasoning about information systems architectures across organisational and technical systems boundaries. The concept of service enables cohesion of the intersubjective and objective modelling traditions by using a single type of diagram that facilitates detection of semantic inconsistency, incompleteness, ambiguity and discontinuity between the static and dynamic aspects of information systems specifications. 2. 2. Co-Creators of Scope of Action : An exploration of the dynamic relationship between people, IT, and work in a nursing context

    Author : Veronica Köhler; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Industrial engineering and economy; Industriell teknik och ekonomi; Computer science; Datavetenskap; Economics; Nationalekonomi; Datateknik; Computer engineering; Computer and Systems Science;

    Abstract : Information Technology (IT) is today widespread in our work places, in our spare time and in our society overall. Implementations of IT in organizations come with high expectations on effectiveness, revenue, smoother work processes and so on. READ MORE

  3. 3. Static Visualizations for Dynamic Hierarchies

    Author : Wiebke Köpp; Tino Weinkauf; Vijay Natarajan; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dynamic hierarchies; Static visualization; Pixel-based visualization; Scalar data; Topology; Layout stability; Dynamiska hierarkier; Statisk visualisering; Pixelbaserad visualisering; Skalärdata; Topologi; Layout-stabilitet; Datalogi; Computer Science;

    Abstract : Dynamic hierarchical data describes phenomena in a wide range of domains, from file management to demographics and business administration, as well as feature extraction results in spatial scientific data. As with all data, visualization is an integral step for gaining understanding about dynamic hierarchical data. READ MORE

  4. 4. Hydraulic Power Steering System Design in Road Vehicles : Analysis, Testing and Enhanced Functionality

    Author : Marcus Rösth; Jan-Ove Palmberg; Nick Vaughan; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydraulic Power Steering; Active Safety; Comfort function; Shuttering; Linear modelling; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Abstract : Demands for including more functions such as haptic guiding in power steering systems in road vehicles have increased with requirements on new active safety and comfort systems. Active safety systems, which have been proven to have a positive effect on overall vehicle safety, refer to systems that give the driver assistance in more and less critical situations to avoid accidents. 5. 5. Combined heat and power plant flexibility - Technical and economic potential and system interaction

    Author : Johanna Beiron; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Combined heat and power; Flexibility; Process optimization modeling; Electricity price volatility; Waste to energy; Combined cycle; District heating; Dynamic modeling;

    Abstract : The share of variable renewable energy sources in electricity generation systems is expected to increase, leading to increased variability in the load that must be provided by conventional power plants or other flexibility measures. Thus, thermal power plants need to consider implementation of technical measures that enhance flexibility; to maintain profitability of operation with increased electricity price fluctuation, and to support electricity system stability.
