  1. 1. Multiple Time Scales and Longitudinal Measurements in Event History Analysis

    University dissertation from Umeå : Statistik

    Author : Danardono; [2005]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Statistics; Cox regression; multiple events; proportiona hazards; random effects; survival analysis; time-dependent covariates; time origin; Statistik; SOCIAL SCIENCES Statistics; computer and systems science Statistics; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Statistik; data- och systemvetenskap Statistik; Statistics; statistik;

    Abstract : A general time-to-event data analysis known as event history analysis is considered. The focus is on the analysis of time-to-event data using Cox's regression model when the time to the event may be measured from different origins giving several observable time scales and when longitudinal measurements are involved. 2. 2. Essays on Model Assisted Survey Planning

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Anders Holmberg; Bengt Rosén; [2003]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Statistics; Statistik; SOCIAL SCIENCES Statistics; computer and systems science Statistics; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Statistik; data- och systemvetenskap Statistik; Statistics; statistik;

    Abstract : The quality of sample survey results is to a large degree dependent on decisions made by survey statisticians at the planning stage. The first paper studies two issues related to the planning stage: (i) the sensitivity of model assumptions concerning the relation between the size measure and a study variable in without replacement probability proportional-to-size sampling (πps sampling), and (ii) properties of practicable sample selection schemes for fixed size πps sampling. 3. 3. Estimators of semiparametric truncated and censored regression models

    University dissertation from Umeå : Umeå universitet

    Author : Maria Karlsson; Thomas Laitila; Göran Broström; Kenneth Carling; [2005]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Statistics; LTRC; consistency; asymtotic normality; bootstrap; interpurchase intervals; Statistik; SOCIAL SCIENCES Statistics; computer and systems science Statistics; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Statistik; data- och systemvetenskap Statistik; Statistics; statistik;

    Abstract : This thesis contributes in several ways to the existing knowledge on estimation of truncated, censored, and left truncated right censored (LTRC) regression models. Three new semiparametric estimators are proposed, allowing for asymmetric error distributions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Essays on univariate long memory models

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Johan Lyhagen; Uppsala universitet.; [1997]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Statistics; Statistik; SOCIAL SCIENCES Statistics; computer and systems science Statistics; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Statistik; data- och systemvetenskap Statistik; Statistics; statistik;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of five papers dealing with univariate long memory modelsin time series analysis.The first paper examines the performance of information criteria when usedto determine the lag order of a long memory process. The results indicate thatinformation criteria cannot be used successfully for small sample sizes. READ MORE

  5. 5. Pre-testing and specification search in an autoregressive moving average process with extension to unit root cases

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Thimothy Oke; Uppsala universitet.; [1997]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Statistics; Statistik; SOCIAL SCIENCES Statistics; computer and systems science Statistics; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Statistik; data- och systemvetenskap Statistik; Statistics; statistik;

    Abstract : Several methods are applied in well defined contexts in the search for an appropriatestatistical model to fit a data set. Preliminary tests of significance for this end aretermed pre-testing. The aim of this study was to investigate some of the consequencesof such pre-testing in a few specific time series processes.
