  1. 1. Product-Service System Designing for Environmental Sustainability : Insights into Design Cognition of Experienced Product Developers

    Author : Abhijna Neramballi; Tomohiko Sakao; Mattias Lindahl; Claudia Eckert; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Design cognition; Product-service system designing; Product designing; Design support; Design for environmental sustainability.;

    Abstract : The overall objective of this research is to support practitioners within the manufacturing industry to effectively design product-service system (PSS)-based solutions with relatively lower environmental impacts than typical product-centric solutions. Design research methodology (DRM) is applied to systematically address this objective with both descriptive and prescriptive approaches. READ MORE

  2. 2. Thermodynamics of Protein Folding and Design

    Author : Erik Sandelin; Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; protein folding; hydrophobicity; Monte Carlo; sequence analysis; sequence assembly; shotgun sequencing; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; classical mechanics; quantum mechanics; relativity; gravitation; statistical physics; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; thermodynamics; termodynamik; Fysicumarkivet A:2000:Sandelin; statistisk fysik; relativitet; protein design; klassisk mekanik; kvantmekanik;

    Abstract : The protein folding and protein design problems are addressed, using coarse-grained models with only two types of amino acids, hydrophobic and hydrophilic. In addition to hydrophobicity forces, the models contain sequence-independent local interactions which are found to strongly influence the thermodynamics of these models. READ MORE

  4. 4. Efficient hull design for ice conditions in inland waterways

    Author : Meng Zhang; Karl Garme; Magnus Burman; Pentti Kujala; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Inland waterway ship; ice conditions; ice properties; ice-hull interaction; ice resistance; impact load; numerical method; operation time window; lightweight design; composites and sandwich structure; Farkostteknik; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering;

    Abstract : With increasing interest in utilizing the inland waterways (IWW) in European countries, the design of IWW vessels gains attention both from a transport efficiency and an emission control point of view. Usually, IWW ships are designed without ice operation concerns and are structurally weaker than ships designed according to ice-class notifications from the classification societies. READ MORE

  5. 5. Efficient commuter craft for urban waterborne public transportation

    Author : Harsha Cheemakurthy; Karl Garme; Joakim Kalantari; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; waterborne public transportation; commuter ferry; modular design; operational requirements; ranking method; sustainable performance; ice operations; ice-hull Interaction; ice load; ice properties; kollektivtrafik på vatten; modulärt färjekoncept; modulär design; rankningsmetod; hållbarhetsparametrar; isbelastning; isförhållanden; isegenskaper; Vehicle and Maritime Engineering; Farkostteknik;

    Abstract : There has been a recent surge in interest in waterborne public transportation (WPT). Publictransport providers (PTP) are seeing its potential in complementing the existing transportnetwork and alleviating urban traffic congestion and pollution. But the adoption of WPTtoday is challenging due to a series of technical and implementation challenges. READ MORE
