  1. 11. Steering Based Lateral Performance Control of Long Heavy Vehicle Combinations

    Author : Sogol Kharrazi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Trailer Swing; Active Steering; Offtracking; Heavy Vehicle; Lateral Performance; Sine with Dwell; Accident Analysis; Longer Combination Vehicle; Rearward Amplification;

    Abstract : In this thesis the lateral performance of heavy vehicle combinations, specifically longer combination vehicles, is discussed. The use of longer combination vehicles is promoted by their positive impact on the traffic congestion problem, as well as their economic and environmental benefits due to reduced fuel consumption and emissions. 3. 13. Visually guided swimming in box jellyfish: A study of swimming behaviour in response to visual stimuli

    Author : Ronald Petie; Funktionell zoologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Vision; steering; swimming; behaviour; box jellyfish; Cubozoa; Tripedalia cystophora; biomechanics;

    Abstract : Most animals use eyes to guide their behaviour. Analysing, and understanding, visually guided behaviours gets more complicated the more advanced the animal gets. Box jellyfish provide a relatively simple system for understanding visually guided behaviours. READ MORE

  4. 14. Hydraulic Power Steering System Design in Road Vehicles : Analysis, Testing and Enhanced Functionality

    Author : Marcus Rösth; Jan-Ove Palmberg; Nick Vaughan; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydraulic Power Steering; Active Safety; Comfort function; Shuttering; Linear modelling; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Abstract : Demands for including more functions such as haptic guiding in power steering systems in road vehicles have increased with requirements on new active safety and comfort systems. Active safety systems, which have been proven to have a positive effect on overall vehicle safety, refer to systems that give the driver assistance in more and less critical situations to avoid accidents. Abstract : Why do governments choose certain types of governance strategies to steer the lower level agencies such as municipalities, health services and other welfare agencies? This is a problem facing many governments in the era of public management reforms, where policies are decided at national level while service responsibilities are decentralised and implemented by lower levels. Thus the main mechanism for governments to influence the implementation of these national reforms is through its choice of strategies and instruments to fill the governance gap between national policy-making and local government.
