  1. 1. The effect of surface steps and oxides on the catalytic activity on model Pd and Rh catalysts

    Author : Chu Zhang; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Surface X-ray diffraction SXRD ; X-ray photonelectron spectroscopy; Catalytic activity; Oxide; Single Crystal surface; surface structure; vicinal surface; CO oxidation; stepped surface; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Zhang;

    Abstract : A catalyst is a substance that can speed up the rate of a chemical reaction without itself being consumed. Catalysts are crucial for chemical production industries, where about 90% of all chemicals are produced using catalysts. READ MORE

  2. 2. Dissociative Adsorption of CO2 on Copper: The Role of Steps

    Author : Benjamin Hagman; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; koppar; CO2; Copper surface; Carbon Dioxide : chemistry; Dissociative adsorption; Surface oxidation; Ambient pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy APXPS ; Surface X-ray diffraction SXRD ;

    Abstract : CO2 chemistry has received significant interest in recent time, due to the greenhouse effects of CO2 emissions and the resulting climate change. CO2 reduction reactions, such as methanol synthesis and reverse water-gas shift, is providing a route for recycling of CO2 and thus limiting the CO2 emissions. READ MORE

  3. 3. Interaction of some molecules with complex surfaces

    Author : Andrea Resta; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Catalysis; Ethylene; CO.; Surface Science; Vicinal surface; Ethanol; Rh;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the adsorption, decomposition and reactions of small molecules on flat, oxidised and vicinal surfaces of late transition metals. The main technique for these studies is high resolution core level spectroscopy (HRCLS). All the studies presented in the thesis are performed in Ultra High Vacuum (UHV). READ MORE

  4. 4. Surface structure and catalytic activity of Pd and Fe oxide surfaces and thin films

    Author : Mikhail Shipilin; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Surface X-ray diffraction SXRD ; Heterogeneous catalysis; Pd; PdO; Fe; FeO; Thin films; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Shipilin;

    Abstract : The present work is devoted to atomic scale structural studies of the surfaces of model heterogeneous catalysts relevant to oxidation reactions. A novel approach using high-energy surface X-ray diffraction combined with mass-spectrometry measurements is employed to perform in situ structural characterization of Pd(100) and Pd(553) single crystal surfaces acting as catalysts in the process of CO oxidation under semirealistic conditions. 5. 5. Efficient Density-Functional-Based Calculational Methods for Surfaces

    Author : Lennart Bengtsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; potential energy surfaces; pseudopotentials; surface physics; density functional theory; optimization techniques; computer simulations;

    Abstract : During the last decades, computer simulations have become an important tool for the study of elementary surface processes, such as atomic and molecular adsorption, diffusion of ad-atoms and surface recombination. The knowledge gained by such studies can be used to understand and develop technologically important processes such as catalysis and crystal growth. READ MORE
