6. ORMOCER Materials Characterization, LAP- & Micro-Processing : Applied to Optical Interconnects and High-Frequency Packaging
Abstract : ORMOCERR®s are organic-inorganic hybrid polymers. Since their material properties can be tailored precisely during synthesis, they are suitable for a wide range of applications in dielectric and optical microelectronics. READ MORE

7. Compound Formation in Model Catalysts
Abstract : In this thesis we have performed a systematic atomic scale characterization of model catalysts under pressures ranging from UHV to atmospheric ambient. By using a unique approach, linking UHV and high pressures studies by combining traditional electron based techniques with novel high pressure in situ probes and ab initio calculations, the surface structure of the different model catalysts could be determined under a wide range of conditions, spanning more than ten orders of magnitude in pressure. 8. Adsorption of Molecular Hydrogen on Cu, Pd and Ni Surfaces
Abstract : This thesis is devoted to spectroscopic studies of molecular hydrogen adsorbed on metal surfaces. Hydrogen is the simplest molecule available and is a very valuable model adsorbate. From a spectroscopic point of view there are also three easily accessible molecular isotopes, H2, HD and D2, with widely different masses. READ MORE

9. Geometrical Structure, Phase Diagrams, and Core-Level Binding Energiesof Metal Surfaces: Calculations, Simulations, and Experiments
Abstract : This thesis concerns clean and adsorbate covered metal surfaces and surface alloys. These systems have been studied using theoretical and experimental methods. In the first part of the thesis, the different techniques that have been utilized in this work are presented, and the included publications are summarized. READ MORE

10. Synchrotron-based In Situ Electron Spectroscopy Applied to Oxide Formation and Catalysis
Abstract : In this thesis, in situ ambient pressure X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy has been used to address chemical reactions on surfaces. The presented work aims at the investigation of the relation between pressure and adsorbate surface structures during catalytic reactions. READ MORE
