    Abstract : The aim of the present thesis was to investigate old couples' memory collaboration to try to improve the understanding of how memory collaboration influenced the memory performance of the couples. This was done in three studies. Collaborative group dimensions were studied: different social aspects, such as friendship, age, and interaction strategy. READ MORE

  3. 3. Writing in a third language a study of upper secondary students’ texts, writing processes and metacognition

    Abstract : Learning an additional foreign language (usually referred to as a third language, L3) after English (L2) in formal settings seems to remain relatively unsuccessful in the European context (European Commission 2012), despite the reported advantages from extensive language learning experiences. Against this background the present thesis explores the potential benefits of a teaching approach focused on writing strategies and metacognitive reflections for L3 writing. READ MORE

  4. 4. Signalling mechanisms in B cell differentiation: Studies on specific human immune response in vitro

    University dissertation from Sigurdur Ingvarsson, Dept. of Immunotechnology, P.O. Box 7031, S-220 07 Lund, Sweden

    Author : Sigurdur Ingvarsson; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1998]

    Abstract : We need to understand the major signalling events in human B cell differentiation in order to be able to regulate the generation of human antigen specific antibodies. This study has focused on the signalling mechanisms involved in generation of germinal centre reaction and secretion of specific antibodies by human B cells, using different in vitro immunisation technologies. 5. 5. On the regulation of immune responses to dietary and self antigens

    University dissertation from Sigurdur Ingvarsson, Dept. of Immunotechnology, P.O. Box 7031, S-220 07 Lund, Sweden

    Author : Susanne Lindgren; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2010]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tolerance; regulatory T cells; self antigens; oral tolerance; dietary antigens; intestinal epithelial cells; exosomes; Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxin A;

    Abstract : Regulatory mechanisms are necessary to avoid the misdirected aggressive immune responses responsible for the pathology seen in autoimmunity and allergy. Thymic-derived CD4+CD25+ regulatory T cells are indispensible for this regulation. We investigated if CD4+CD25+ Treg prevents auto-reactive responses in adult peripheral blood and cord blood.
