1. Optimal stopping, incomplete information, and stochastic games
Abstract : This thesis contains six papers on the topics of optimal stopping and stochastic games. Paper I extends the classical Bayesian sequential testing and detection problems for a Brownian motion to higher dimensions. We demonstrate unilateral concavity of the cost function and present its structural properties through various examples. READ MORE

3. Games and Probabilistic Infinite-State Systems
Abstract : Computer programs keep finding their ways into new safety-critical applications, while at the same time growing more complex. This calls for new and better methods to verify the correctness of software. We focus on one approach to verifying systems, namely that of model checking. READ MORE

4. A Probabilistic Approach to Non-Markovian Impulse Control
Abstract : This thesis treats mathematical considerations that arise in relation to certain stochastic optimal control problems, in particular of switching and impulse type. Both of these problems are extensions of the well-known optimal stopping problem. READ MORE

5. Evolution and learning in games
Abstract : This thesis contains four essays that analyze the behaviors that evolve when populations of boundedly rational individuals interact strategically for a long period of time. Individuals are boundedly rational in the sense that their strategy choices are determined by simple rules of adaptation -- learning rules. READ MORE
