  1. 1. On the Determination of Reactive Compounds in Aerosols

    Author : Mårten Spanne; Ergonomi och aerosolteknologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Environmental technology; industrial hygiene; isocyanates; particles; sampling; aerosols; pollution control; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp;

    Abstract : Many sources of airborne contaminants have always been present in various work environments. With the development of thermosetting plastic systems, the use of reactive chemical compounds was greatly increased and thus also the risk of exposure to reactive and potentially hazardous compounds. 2. 2. Particle Characterization in the Exhaust Devices of Direct Injection Engines

    Author : Arun Prasath Karuppasamy; Anders Christiansen Erlandsson; Hanna Bernemyr; Alexander Bergmann; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Particle number; Particle size distribution; turbocharger; SCR; Exhaust after-treatment system; Particle dilution and conditioning; Partikelantal; storleksfördelning av partiklar; turboladdare; SCR; efterbehandlingssystem; avgasbehandlingssystem; partikelspädning och partikelanpassad mätmetod; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Abstract : Minimizing pollutants are of utmost importance to ensure sustainability in transportation. Particle emissions from internal combustion engines are especially harmful to human health, while also contributing to global warming. READ MORE

  3. 3. Traffic-related pollutants in urban snow : Concentrations, size fractionation, and release with snowmelt

    Author : Arya Vijayan; Maria Viklander; Helene Österlund; Göran Blomqvist; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Urban snow; Traffic pollution; Suspended solids; Metals; PAHs; Tire and Road wear Particles T RWPs ; Microplastics MPs ; Size fractionation; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering; Centrumbildning - Centrum för dagvattenhantering DRIZZLE ; Centre - Centre for Stormwater Management DRIZZLE ;

    Abstract : In urban areas with seasonal snow, traffic-related pollutants such as solid particles, metals, chloride, organic pollutants, and microplastics (MPs) can be temporarily stored in snowbanks along roads and streets. When the snow melts, it releases the accumulated pollutants and the resulting snowmelt with diverse pollutants may partly infiltrate into the ground, or enter storm sewers and eventually be discharged into, and impact on, the receiving waters. 4. 4. Analysis of Arctic ice cloud properties using in-situ and remote sensing measurements

    Author : Veronika Wolf; Thomas Kuhn; Peter Völger; Martin Gallagher; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arctic cirrus clouds; ice particle properties; in-situ measurements; in-situ and lidar comparison; Atmospheric science; Atmosfärsvetenskap;

    Abstract : Cirrus clouds play an important role in the radiation balance of the atmosphere as theycan have a warming and cooling effect. The resulting net radiation effect depends ontheir micro- and macrophysical properties such as particle size, shape, and numberconcentration. READ MORE

  5. 5. A study of micro-particles in the dust and melt at different stages of iron and steelmaking

    Author : Muhammad Nabeel; Andrey Karasev; Lauri Holappa; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Particle size distribution; ironmaking; iron ore pellets; dust generation; mechanical wear; friction; reduction; REM clusters; Electrolytic extraction; cluster size distribution; growth mechanism; collisions; statistical analysis.; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering; Metallurgical process science; Metallurgisk processvetenskap;

    Abstract : The dust particles generated due to mechanical wear of iron ore pellets and clusters formed in molten stainless steel alloyed with rare earth metals (REM) are considered in this study. Firstly, the influence of the characteristics of iron ore pellets, applied load on a pellet bed and partial reduction of the pellets on the size distribution of the generated dust was investigated.
