  2. 12. EMG and strength in trunk and hip muscles

    Author : Eva A Andersson; Alf Thorstensson; Margareta Nordin; Gymnastik- och idrottshögskolan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neurophysiology; Neurofysiologi; abdominal muscles; biomechanics; electromyography; erector spinae; iliacus; iliopsoas; hip flexor muscles; locomotion; motor control; normalization; posture; psoas; quadratus lumborum; rehabilitation; running; sit-ups; strength; training exercises; u;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to study the myouelectric activity of all major muscles involved in the movements and stabilization of the trunk, pelvis and hips during training exercises, postures, motor tasks, maximal strength performance and locomotion. By use of ultra-sound, EMG electrodes could be guided safely and accurately into muscles situated even close to the spinal column, such as psoas, quadratus lumborum and deep parts of erector spinae. 3. 13. Recycling of concrete in new structural concrete

    Author : Madumita Sadagopan; Andrzej Cwirzen; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; concrete recycling; sustainability; closed-loop recycling; recycled aggregates; compressive strength; workability mechanical pre-processing; secondary cementitious materials; green concrete; climate-optimized concrete; Resource Recovery; Resursåtervinning;

    Abstract : Concrete waste as crushed concrete aggregates (CCA) in structural concrete gives a new purpose and prolongs the technical life of the reference concrete accomplishing closed loop recycling. This research investigates CCA as aggregate replacement in an industrial reference concrete recipe as fine aggregate fractions and overall aggregate replacement. READ MORE

  4. 14. Effects of nonlinear noise reduction algorithms on image quality in computed tomography systems. Evaluations using human observers and methods for assessing distortion

    Author : Joel Larsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Computed Tomography; Nonlinear noise reduction; Visual grading; Distortion analysis;

    Abstract : Many conventional radiological examinations have during the past decades been replaced by examinations performed on computed tomography (CT) systems. One reason is that a CT system, in contrast to a conventional X-ray system, depicts slices of the body so that anatomical structures to a lesser extent risk to obscure the potential pathology. 5. 15. Visual grading evaluation of reconstruction methods and dose optimisation in abdominal Computed Tomography

    Author : Bharti Kataria; Michael Sandborg; Örjan Smedby; Anders Persson; Hannibal Sökjer; Håkan Geijer; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Since its introduction in the 1970’s CT has emerged as a modality of choice because of its high sensitivity in producing accurate diagnostic images. A third of all Computed Tomography (CT) examinations are abdominal CTs which deliver one of the highest doses among common examinations. READ MORE
