  1. 1. FRP shear strengthening of reinforced concrete beams

    Author : Gabriel Sas; Giorgio Monti; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fiber reinforced polymers; shear; reinforced concrete; strengthening; model; comparison; literature review; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : The shear failure mechanisms of flexural reinforced concrete (RC) members is highly complex; its precise details cannot be explained with simple analytical relationships, and are the topic of considerable scientific debate. The studies described and examined the three most used shear theories in the world – the fixed angle truss model (45°TM), the variable angle truss model (VAT), and modified compression field theory (MCFT). 2. 2. Flexural Strengthening of Reinforced Concrete Beams Using Externally Bonded CFRP--An Innovative Method for the Application of Prestressed CFRP Laminates

    Author : Jincheng Yang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; interfacial stress; anchorage; mesh sensitivity; externally bonded; reinforced concrete; flexural strengthening; optimization; smeared length; finite element modeling; carbon fiber reinforced polymer CFRP ; stepwise prestressing; debonding;

    Abstract : A large number of existing bridges in European countries are structurally deficient and functionally obsolete due to the deterioration of aging bridges and the lack of structural and geometric capacity to accommodate the increasing traffic volume and load levels. To meet the demand for holistic and effective strengthening techniques the SUREBRIDGE solution is proposed for the refurbishment of concrete bridges, which includes the technique of using prestressed carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminate as externally bonded reinforcement for flexural strengthening. 3. 3. Strengthening reinforced concrete structures with FRP composites

    Author : Jincheng Yang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; GFRP; finite element analysis.; corrosion; interfacial stress; externally bonded reinforcement; self-anchorage; CFRP; debonding; concrete structures; Fibre reinforced polymer; prestressing level;

    Abstract : Civil infrastructures made of reinforced concrete (RC) play an important role in the economic activities and services of society. However, signs of deterioration and functional deficiency are commonly found in existing RC structures. Thus, there is a great demand for upgrading the capacity and performance of existing concrete structures. READ MORE

  4. 4. Assessment of Concrete Bridges : Models and Tests for Refined Capacity Estimates

    Author : Niklas Bagge; Anders Carolin; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Optimising the strategy for repairing, upgrading and replacing bridges in the European Union, and elsewhere, is becoming increasingly important due to ageing of the bridge stock, continuously increasing load requirements and budgetary limitations. Thus, there is a clear need to identify or develop, and implement, refined methods for assessing existing bridges in order to determine the most cost-effective options and actions to extend their lives, increase their capacities or replace them. 5. 5. Durability of sprayed concrete : steel fibre corrosion in cracks

    Author : Erik Nordström; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : A combination of sprayed concrete technique and steel fibre technology gives obvious advantages when saving the work needed to place conventional reinforcement. In rock strengthening applications this is most accentuated. Sprayed concrete in general, made by skilled workmen, will generally be of high quality and good durability. READ MORE
