6. Cardiopulmonary Function in Healthy Individuals and in Patients After Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation
Abstract : Background: The cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET) is the gold standard of clinical exercise tests, combining conventional stress testing with measurement of oxygen uptake and carbon dioxide production. In order to interpret CPET findings, adequate reference values are needed. Currently, no Swedish reference values exist. READ MORE

7. Surgical Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation with Cryo and Radiofrequency Concomitant to Mitral Valve Surgery : Clinical, Biochemical and Echocardiography Outcomes
Abstract : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia seen in clinical practice. In cardiac surgery, the negative influence of AF on short- and long-term outcomes has made concomitant ablation procedures more common. READ MORE

8. The importance of long axis function -an echocardiographic study with respect to ageing, response to treatment, prediction of survival and effect of warm water immersion
Abstract : Echocardiographic M-mode measurement of atrioventricular plane displacement (AVPD) and determination of annular velocity with Tissue Doppler imaging (TDI) is a reliable method to gauge ventricular long axis function for quantification of myocardial contractility and relaxation. The aim of this thesis was to increase the understanding of the importance of long axis function with respect to ageing, response to pharmacological treatment, prediction of survival, and enhanced load condition caused by warm water immersion. 9. Insight into Coro-Carotid atherosclerotic disease in patients with acute coronary syndrome
Abstract : Background: the arterial tree branches in different parts of human body are sharing the histological and physiological features. Atherosclerosis is a systemic arterial disease, hence is expected to affect to affect more than one arterial system with similar pathologic manifestations. READ MORE

10. Myocardial electromechanical function in long QT syndrome
Abstract : AIM: The aim of this thesis is to assess, in LQTS and according to genotype, the myocardial electromechanical (EM) function response to exercise, its relation to symptoms and its response to b-blocker therapy. To achieve this aim, we conducted 4 studies with the following specific objectives: i. READ MORE
