  1. 1. On initiation of chemically assisted crack growth and crack propagation paths of branching cracks in polycarbonate

    Author : Ulf Hejman; Malmö högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; stress corrosion; crack initiation; multiple cracking; polycarbonate; three point bending; stress corrosion cracking; polycarbonate; dissolution; branching; experiment; finite element modelling; stress corrosion; crack initiation; multiple cracking; polycarbonate; three point bending; branching.;

    Abstract : Stress corrosion, SC, in some cases gives rise to stress corrosion cracking, SCC, which differs from purely stress intensity driven cracks in many aspects. They initiate and grow under the influence of an aggressive environment in a stressed substrate. They grow at low load and may branch. READ MORE

  2. 2. Modelling of intergranular stress corrosion cracking mechanism : Du som saknar dator/datorvana kan kontakta [email protected] för information

    Author : Michal Sedlak Mosesson; Bo Alfredsson; Thierry Couvant; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Cohesive Zone Model; Fracture Mechanics; Diffusion; Duplex oxide; Multi-physics; Finite Element Model; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : When assessing nuclear power plant life, stress corrosion cracking (SCC) plays an important role. Stress corrosion cracking in nuclear power plants is well recognized and heavily researched. Still due to its complicated nature it is not completely understood. There are many different damage mechanisms behind SCC. READ MORE

  3. 3. Simulation of multipass welding to reduce intergranular stress corrosion cracking

    Author : Erika Hedblom; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Datorstödd maskinkonstruktion; Computer Aided Design;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the use of the finite element method for simulation of multipass welding. The simulations have been used to find welding procedures that minimises tensile residual stresses on the inside of the studied pipes. This will lead to a reduced risk for Inter Granular Stress Corrosion Cracking. READ MORE

  4. 4. Hydrolytic degradation of dental composites and effects of silane-treatment and filler fraction on compressive strength and thermal expansion of composites

    Author : Karl-Johan M. Söderholm; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Internal frictional theory; filler-matrix debonding; stress-corrosion; stressinfluenced diffusion; m icro-crack form ation; crazing; opacity; wear; osmotic pressure; hoop stresses;

    Abstract : Some researchers have suggested that the weakest link of dental composites is the filler-matrix bond. However, due to incompleteness of information dealing with this bond and its stability in a humid environment, it was considered desirable to investigate the effect of water on this region, as well as the influence of filler bonding and filler fraction on compressive strength and thermal expansionExperimental composites containing different filler fractions of either silane-treated or untreated fillers were made. 5. 5. On the low primary water stress corrosion cracking susceptibility of weld deformed Alloy 690

    Author : Rickard Shen; Pål Efsing; Jonas Faleskog; Grace Burke; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hållfasthetslära; Solid Mechanics; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : It has been shown in recent years that the nickel-base Alloy 690 can become susceptible to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in the primary water of nuclear power plants with pressurized water reactors if it has been sufficiently deformed at room temperature. Although the material is not intentionally used in a deformed state, it can become deformed by various manufacturing processes. READ MORE
