22. Topics on D-branes and Holography
Abstract : We discuss various aspects of D-branes in string theory and holography in string theory and loop quantum gravity. One way to study D-branes is from a microscopic perspective, using conformal field theory techniques. For example, we investigate the question of how D-branes can be introduced into orbifolded theories. READ MORE

23. Aspects of vacuum moduli in string theory
Abstract : In this thesis we explore geometric aspects of the space of vacua in supersymmetric string compactifications. More specifically, we will look at heterotic strings compactified on Calabi-Yau manifolds and, separately, G2 structure manifolds. READ MORE

24. Spins and Giants : Fundamental Excitations in Weakly and Strongly Coupled ABJM Theory
Abstract : The discovery of integrability on both sides of the duality between planar N=4 super Yang-Mills theory and free type IIB string theory in AdS5 × S5 has lead to great progress in our understanding of the AdS/CFT correspondence. Similar integrable structures also appear in the more recent three-dimensional superconformal N=6 Chern-Simons-matter theory constructed by Aharony, Bergman, Jafferis and Maldacena (ABJM), as well as in its gravity dual, type IIA string theory on AdS4 × CP3. 25. Automorphic forms and string theory: Small automorphic representations and non-perturbative effects
Abstract : This compilation thesis stems from a project with the purpose of determining non-perturbative contributions to scattering amplitudes in string theory carrying important information about instantons, black hole quantum states and M-theory. The scattering amplitudes are functions on the moduli space invariant under the discrete U-duality group and this invariance is one of the defining properties of an automorphic form. READ MORE
