16. Iron-nitrogen containing carbon catalysts for oxygen reduction in fuel cells
Abstract : New solutions to efficiently convert energy are needed to mitigate global climate changes and sustain the needs of the growing population. An energy device with high potential is the proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell. PEM fuel cells can convert chemical energy to electrical energy with extraordinary high conversion efficiency. 17. Carbohydrate and metabonomic studies by NMR spectroscopy
Abstract : NMR spectroscopy can be used to investigate organic and biomolecular structures, both as pure compounds and in complex mixtures. In this thesis NMR spectroscopy was used for carbohydrate and metabonomic studies. READ MORE

18. Structure-Property Relationships of Iron N-Heterocyclic Carbene Complexes : Synthesis, Characterization and Application
Abstract : Resulting from the general availability of first-row transition metals, compared to their second- and third-row counterparts, photosensitizers (PSs) based on metals like iron have gained interest as candidates to enable photochemistry from solar energy, a largely underutilized energy source. Iron complexes equivalent to other metal complexes, currently being used as PS, do lack some of the advantageous properties required to challenge the established PSs. READ MORE

19. Novel bioinspired and biohybrid electrode materials for hydrogen production
Abstract : This thesis was accomplished under the scope of eSCALED project administrated by EU MSCA horizon 2020 program, which aimed to develop a device called “artificial leaf” responsible for generating fuels or liquid chemicals (H2 production or CO2 reduction) using solar electrolysis. My objective was to develop a noble metal free, efficient cathode materials for H2 production for the device which yield this thesis. READ MORE

20. Extracellular Matrix Based Materials for Tissue Engineering
Abstract : The extracellular matrix is (ECM) is a network of large, structural proteins and polysaccharides, important for cellular behavior, tissue development and maintenance. Present thesis describes work exploring ECM as scaffolds for tissue engineering by manipulating cells cultured in vitro or by influencing ECM expression in vivo. READ MORE
