21. Statistical Mechanical Studies of Aqueous solutions and Biomolecular Systems
Abstract : This thesis is concerned with theoretical studies of aqueous solutions and biomolecular systems. Part of the present work is to understand equilibrium solvent and solute properties, while the other part is to study processes that occur in these solutions. READ MORE

22. Analytical photoacoustic model of laser-induced ultrasound in a planar layered structure
Abstract : A way of describing photoacoustic measurement techniques is listening to light. Another way is as sensor techniques for characterisation of materials by means of light and sound interacting with the material under investigation. READ MORE

23. Numerical Complexity Analysis of Weak Approximation of Stochastic Differential Equations
Abstract : The thesis consists of four papers on numerical complexityanalysis of weak approximation of ordinary and partialstochastic differential equations, including illustrativenumerical examples. Here by numerical complexity we mean thecomputational work needed by a numerical method to solve aproblem with a given accuracy. READ MORE

24. Classical and Quantum Descriptions of Proteins, Lipids and Membranes
Abstract : In this thesis the properties of proteins and membranes are studied by molecular dynamics simulations. The subject is decomposed into parts addressing free energy calculations in proteins, mechanical inclusion models for lipid bilayers, phase transitions and structural correlations in lipid bilayers and atomistic lipid bilayer models. 25. Modelling the terrestrial carbon cycle – drivers, benchmarks, and model-data fusion
Abstract : The terrestrial ecosystem sequesters about one-third of anthropogenic emissions each year, thereby providing a critical ecosystem service that slows the rate of increase of atmospheric carbon dioxide and helps mitigate climate change. Observed atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations exhibit a large inter-annual variability which is considered to be caused primarily by the response of the terrestrial ecosystem to climate change and anthropogenic activity.
