  1. 1. On the structure-function relationship of p73

    Author : Ulrika Nyman; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The development of multicellular organisms requires a balance between the cellular processes of proliferation, differentiation and death. These processes are important throughout the whole life of the organism. Daily, the DNA in our cells is under attack by agents that can cause damage. READ MORE

  2. 2. Structure-Function Relationships in RuII Complexes with Unconventional Ligands: Photophysical and Photochemical Studies

    Author : Joachim Wallenstein; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; structure-function relationship; spectral component analysis; photochemistry; RuII complexes; photoreaction; hole-transfer;

    Abstract : The rich photophysics, photochemistry and electrochemistry of RuII complexes have attracted intense research interest in widely disparate fields. A large portion of the studied and applied complexes are derived from the archetypical [Ru(bpy)3]2+ (bpy is 2,2’-bipyridine), which absorbs in the visible region, displays a long lived (~1 μs), emissive metal-to-ligand charge transfer state, and shows reversible electrochemistry in both the ground and excited state. 3. 3. Aldolases for Enzymatic Carboligation : Directed Evolution and Enzyme Structure-Function Relationship Studies

    Author : Huan Ma; Mikael Widersten; Wolf-Dieter Fessner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aldolase; 2-deoxyribose-5-phosphate aldolase; fructose-6-phosphate aldolase; directed evolution; enzyme dynamics; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : The research summarized in this thesis focuses on directed evolution and enzyme mechanism studies of two aldolases: 2-deoxyribose-5-phosphate aldolase (DERA) and fructose-6-phosphate aldolase (FSA).Aldolases are nature’s own catalysts for one of the most fundamental reactions in organic chemistry: the formation of new carbon-carbon bonds. 4. 4. Modulating the structure-function relationship of mucin materials

    Author : Kun Jiang; Thomas Crouzier; Qi Zhou; Mark Tibbitt; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioteknologi; Biotechnology;

    Abstract : Mucus covers the epithelium surfaces playing a key role in the barrier, hydration, lubrication and bioactivity functions for the human body, and mucins are the fundamental components of mucus which provide such functions. However, many details in how these functions are related to the many structural features of mucins are still unknown. READ MORE

  5. 5. The Structure-Function Relationship and Evolution of Deoxyribonucleoside Kinases

    Author : Zeeshan Mutahir; Molekylär cellbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The synthesis of deoxyribonucleoside triphosphates (dNTPs), building blocks of DNA, can be achieved by two different pathways in the cell. One is called de novo synthesis and the other is known as salvage pathway. The de novo pathway involves synthesis of dNTPs by utilizing basic molecules like sugars, amino acids, CO2, NH3, etc. READ MORE
