  1. 1. Towards Individualized Drug Dosage : General Methods and Case Studies

    Author : Martin Fransson; Peter Fritzson; Lena Friberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; drug dosage; population pharmacokinetics; biochemical modelling; identifiability; parameter estimation; Bioinformatics; Bioinformatik;

    Abstract : Progress in individualized drug treatment is of increasing importance, promising to avoid much human suffering and reducing medical treatment costs for society. The strategy is to maximize the therapeutic effects and minimize the negative side effects of a drug on individual or group basis. READ MORE

  2. 2. ePrescribing : Studies in Pharmacoinformatics

    Author : Bengt Åstrand; Göran Petersson; Sven Tågerud; Anders Ekedahl; Albert Wertheimer; Högskolan i Kalmar; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Community Pharmacy Services; Decision Making; computer-assisted; Drug Interactions; Drug Utilization statistics numerical data; ePrescribing; Medical Informatics; Medication Errors prevention control; Pharmacoinformatics; Polypharmacy; Medical informatics; Medicinsk informatik; Pharmacology; Farmakologi;

    Abstract : Det övergripande syftet med den här avhandlingen har varit att, inom området läkemedelsinformatik, studera utvecklingen av elektroniska stöd inom läkemedelsförskrivning; för klinisk praxis, uppföljning och forskning.Under århundraden har det handskrivna receptet varit det sätt, med vilket läkare förmedlat sina läkemedelsordinationer till apotekare, vilket också för patienten blivit en informationskälla för hur läkemedel ska användas för att göra bästa nytta. 3. 3. Kinetic studies of NS3 and NS5B from Hepatitis C virus : Implications and applications for drug discovery

    Author : Göran Dahl; Helena Danielson; Raffaele De Francesco; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hepatitis C virus; NS3; NS5B; enzyme kinetics; inhibition; resistance; drug; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Abstract : The aim of these studies was to increase our understanding of the non-structural proteins 3 and 5B (NS3 and NS5B) from the hepatitis C virus (HCV), and thereby contribute to the development of new and better drugs against HCV.By studying NS3 with substitutions identified to be associated with resistance to NS3 inhibitors in clinical trials (R155Q, A156T and D168V) it was found that not all inhibitors were affected, indicating that cross-resistance can be avoided. 4. 4. Drug interaction surveillance using individual case safety reports

    Author : Johanna Strandell; Staffan Hägg; Niklas Norén; Andrew Bate; Robin E. Ferner; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : Adverse drug reactions; adverse drug interaction surveillance; drug interactions; individual case safety reports; postmarketing pharmacovigilance; signal detection; MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Background: Drug interactions resulting in adverse drug reactions (ADRs) represent a major health problem both for individuals and society in general. Post-marketing pharmacovigilance reporting databases with compiled individual case safety reports (ICSRs) have been shown to be particularly useful in the detection of novel drug - ADR combinations, though these reports have not been fully used to detect adverse drug interactions. 5. 5. Interaction Studies of Secreted Aspartic Proteases (Saps) from Candida albicans : Application for Drug Discovery

    Author : Dan Backman; Helena Danielson; Birgitta Tomkinson; Gunnar Henriksson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; SPR Biosensor; Secreted aspartic proteases; Candida albicans; interaction kinetics; drug discovery; protease inhibitor; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on enzymatic studies of the secreted aspartic proteases (Saps) from Candida albicans as a tool for discovery of anti-candida drugs. C. albicans causes infections in a number of different locations, which differ widely in the protein substrates available and pH. Since C. READ MORE
