1. Mining Big and Fast Data: Algorithms and Optimizations for Real-Time Data Processing
Abstract : In the last decade, real-time data processing has attracted much attention from both academic community and industry, as the meaning of big data has evolved to incorporate as well the speed of data. The massive and rapid production of data comes via numerous services, i.e., Web, social networks, Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile devices. READ MORE

2. Random tournaments and random circuits
Abstract : This thesis is devoted to two different topics in the area of probabilistic combinatorics: asymptotic behaviour of subgraph counts in a random tournament and random circuit decompositions of complete graphs.Let Tn be a random tournament on n vertices, chosen uniformly from all 2(n2) such tournaments, and let D be an arbitrary directed graph. 3. New Results on Combinatorial Algorithms
Abstract : In this thesis improved upper bounds for several important combinatorial problems are provided. Below is a list of the main results showed in the thesis. The problem of determining whether a k-connected partial k-tree is isomorphic to subgraph of another partial k-tree is shown to be solvable in time O(nk+2). READ MORE

4. Label Cover Reductions for Unconditional Approximation Hardness of Constraint Satisfaction
Abstract : Problem solving is an integral aspect of modern society and includes such tasks as picking the fastest route to work, optimizing a production line, scheduling computer tasks, placing new bus stops, or picking a meal from available ingredients. We study the hardness of solving Constraint Satisfaction Problems (CSPs). 5. Optimal and Hereditarily Optimal Realizations of Metric Spaces
Abstract : This PhD thesis, consisting of an introduction, four papers, and some supplementary results, studies the problem of finding an optimal realization of a given finite metric space: a weighted graph which preserves the metric's distances and has minimal total edge weight. This problem is known to be NP-hard, and solutions are not necessarily unique. READ MORE
