  1. 1. Geochemical and Mineralogical Characterization of Waste Rocks for Preliminary Mine Drainage Quality Prediction

    Author : Teemu Karlsson; Lena Alakangas; Päivi Kauppila; Berndt Lottermoser; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mine waste characterisation; mine drainage water; ARD; NRD; aqua regia extraction; ABA test; NAG test; SEM mineralogy; sulfide minerals; risk assessment; Applied Geochemistry; Tillämpad geokemi;

    Abstract : Acid or neutral rock drainage (ARD or NRD) with its attendant elevated concentrations of harmful elements presents one of the main challenges related to the management of waste rocks. Low-quality drainage is a particular issue with respect to mineral deposits containing sulfide minerals, of which pyrite and pyrrhotite are especially prone to produce acidic drainage when exposed to oxygen and water. 2. 2. Physico-chemical characterisation of microbial cell surface and bioflotation of sulfide minerals

    Author : Prashant K. Sharma; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Abstract : Biomineral beneficiation concerns the way in which microorganisms bring about the enrichment of an ore matrix. It involves the selective removal of undesirable mineral constituents from an ore through microbe-mineral interactions in the process such as selective flotation and flocculation. READ MORE

  3. 3. Bacteria-sulfide mineral interactions with reference to flotation and flocculation

    Author : Annamaria Vilinska; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mineralteknik; Mineral Processing;

    Abstract : Biological processes have been attracting attention in mineral processing industry due to their lower operating costs, environmental acceptability and flexibility in adaptation. Bio-hydrometallurgical methods to treat various sulfide and oxide ores have been developed during the years and these processes have been adopted by certain industries. READ MORE

  4. 4. Volcanic stratigraphy, chemical stratigraphy, and hydrothermal alteration of the Petiknäs South Volcanic-hosted massive sulfide deposit, Sweden

    Author : Denis Schlatter; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Malmgeologi; Ore Geology;

    Abstract : The main exploration methods which have been used in the Skellefte district are prospecting for ore boulders in young glacial deposits and electrical geophysical methods. The discovery of new ores which likely are located at deep levels (>200 m), requires improved exploration methods, which in turn require a better understanding of the geology and alteration patterns of the known VMS deposits. 5. 5. Characterization of Pathfinders and Indicators of Gold

    Author : Gabriel Kofi Nzulu; Martin Magnuson; Per Eklund; Hans Högberg; Farid Akhtar; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Pathfinder; Indicator; Gold; Hydrothermal; X-ray; Diffraction; Kubi; Ghana;

    Abstract : Research on natural minerals and their chemical bonding to economically critical raw materials is a viable industrially relevant research area due to its increasing demand. Meeting demands requires fast, robust, and efficient techniques to explore new ore deposits and continuous operation of active mines as well as recycling. READ MORE
