  1. 1. Remote Measurements of Ship Emissions

    Author : Niklas Berg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; airborne; Ship emissions; sulphur dioxide; nitrogen dioxide; DOAS; in situ measurements; carbon dioxide;

    Abstract : The combustion of sulphur-containing fossil fuels gives rise to emissions of sulphurdioxide. Nitrogen oxides are also emitted when fuels are burned. The InternationalMaritime Organization (IMO) has ratified regulations regarding Sulphur Fuel Content(SFC) and NOx emissions from the shipping sector. READ MORE

  2. 2. Application of scattered sunlight spectroscopy for quantification of gas emissions from anthropogenic and natural sources

    Author : Claudia Rivera; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; anthropogenic sources; gas emission; volcanoes; sulphur dioxide; DOAS; nitrogen dioxide.; scattered sunlight spectroscopy; natural sources;

    Abstract : Monitoring of gas emissions from natural and anthropogenic sources is of importance due to their negative effects on human health, atmospheric quality and ecosystems. Concern over air pollution has increased the need to develop measurement techniques suitable for gas flux determination. READ MORE

  3. 3. Application of Passive DOAS using Scattered Sunlight for quantification of gas emissions from anthropogenic and volcanic sources

    Author : Claudia Rivera; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nitrogen dioxide; DOAS; gas emission; sulphur dioxide; volcanic; formaldehyde.; scattered sunlight; anthropogenic;

    Abstract : Monitoring of gas emissions from natural and anthropogenic sources is important due to the negative effects of these emissions on human health, atmospheric quality and ecosystems. Concern over air pollution has increased the need to develop measurement techniques suitable for gas flux determination. READ MORE

  4. 4. Fundamental studies on the high temperature corrosion mechanisms of a 22Cr austenitic stainless steel in environments related to oxy-fuel combustion

    Author : Luciana Intiso; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; EDX; TEM; KCl; Na2SO4; SEM; FIB; high temperature oxidation; sulphur dioxide; carbon dioxide; GI-XRD; stainless steels; water vapour; GDOES; t-EBSD;

    Abstract : This thesis concern the high temperature corrosion mechanisms of stainless steels, with focus on a 22 wt.% Cr FeNiCr alloy (Sanicro 25), in environments related to oxy-fuel combustion, which is a promising technology that can provide enhanced CO2 recovery and sequestration from power plants by using post-combustion capture. 5. 5. Remote Sensing of Forest Decline in the Czech Republic

    Author : Jonas Ardö; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Czech Republic; neural networks; sulphur dioxide; air pollution; Norway spruce; deforestation; forest decline; GIS; spectral characteristics; Remote sensing; Landsat; Ore Mountains; Geology; physical geography; Geologi; fysisk geografi;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the localisation and quantification of deforestation and forest damage in Norway spruce forests in northern Czech Republic using Landsat data. Severe defoliation increases the spectral reflectance in all wavelength bands, especially in the mid infrared region. READ MORE
