1. From Macroscopic to Microscopic Dynamics of Superconducting Cavities
Abstract : Superconducting (SC) radio frequency (RF) cavities are at the heart of many large-scale particle accelerators such as the European Spallation Source (ESS), the X-ray Free Electron Laser (XFEL), the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS)-II and the proposed International Linear Collider (ILC). The SC cavities are essentially resonant structures with very high intrinsic quality factors (Q0) of the order of 1010. READ MORE

2. Study of the Superconducting Medium Beta Cavity of the European Spallation Source
Abstract : The thesis explains the design, fabrication, vertical test, higher order mode (HOM) and field emission study of the ESS superconducting medium beta (MB) cavity. The ESS MB cavity is a 6-cell elliptical cavity. The main criteria for a multicell elliptical cavity design are explained. The multicell elliptical cavity fabrication process is discussed. READ MORE

3. Quantum acoustics with superconducting circuits
Abstract : The past 20 years has seen rapid developments in circuit quantum electrodynamics, where superconducting qubits and resonators are used to control and study quantum light-matter interaction at a fundamental level. The development of this field is strongly influenced by quantum information science and the prospect of realizing quantum computation, but also opens up opportunities for combinations of different physical systems and research areas. 4. Quantum Optics with Propagating Microwaves in Superconducting Circuits
Abstract : We address recent advances in quantum optics with propagating microwavesin superconducting circuits. This research field exploits on the fact that the coupling between a superconducting artificial atom and propagating microwave photons in a one-dimensional (1D) open transmission line can be made strong enough to observe quantum effects, without using any cavity to confine the microwave photons. 5. Superconducting qubits - measurement, entanglement, and noise
Abstract : In the early 1980’s, it was suggested that a computer obeying the laws of quantum mechanics would be able to solve problems beyond the capabilities of a classical computer. The novel ways in which such a quantum computer works relies on the quantum properties of the quantum bits (qubits) used to store the information. READ MORE
