1. Fluctuations in Mesoscopic Constrictions
Abstract : In normal and superconducting quantum point contacts there are several sources of fluctuations. Thermally activated impurities in the vicinity of the junction cause the current (or voltage) to change with a typical frequency of the order of one Hz up to a few kHz. READ MORE

2. Antenna Integrated Superconducting Mixers
Abstract : This thesis investigates the prospects of some different superconducting mixers integrated with planar antennas for the millimeter and submillimeter regime. Two kinds of Superconductor/Insulator/Superconductor (SIS) tunnel junctions for use in mixers have been fabricated; Nb/PbBi edge junctions and Nb trilayer junctions. READ MORE

3. Intrinsic tunneling spectroscopy of low-Tc cuprate superconductors : Pseudogap, fluctuations and electrical doping
Abstract : In this thesis, intrinsic tunneling and magnetic transport measurements of the cuprate superconductor Bi2+xSr2-yCuO6+δ (Bi-2201) are presented. The compound is characterized by a single-CuO2 plane, has a very low critical temperature Tc ~ 4K and a relatively low upper critical field Hc2 ~ 10T. READ MORE

4. Resistive studies of vortices and fluctuations in single crystal YBa2Cu3O7-
Abstract : High-temperature superconductors have been intensely studiedsince the discovery, almost 20 years ago. Their layeredstructure, extreme type-II behavior, large anisotropy, andstrong fluctuations have led to a large number of new andinteresting problems. READ MORE

5. Quantum acoustics with superconducting circuits
Abstract : The past 20 years has seen rapid developments in circuit quantum electrodynamics, where superconducting qubits and resonators are used to control and study quantum light-matter interaction at a fundamental level. The development of this field is strongly influenced by quantum information science and the prospect of realizing quantum computation, but also opens up opportunities for combinations of different physical systems and research areas.
