  1. 1. PEPPSI-type Complexes of Palladium and Platinum: : Investigation of Properties and Applications in Catalysis

    Author : Ekaterina Bolbat; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PEPPSY-type complexes; palladium; platinum; C−H activation; supported homogeneous catalysts;

    Abstract : Catalysis is a powerful tool to highly efficient production of desired newchemicals by acceleration of a chemical reaction rate. Special compounds used forthis purpose are called catalysts; they induce a change in the chemicalenvironment without being consumed during the process. READ MORE

  2. 2. Catalysts for Oxygen Production and Utilization : Closing the Oxygen Cycle: From Biomimetic Oxidation to Artificial Photosynthesis

    Author : Erik Karlsson; Jan-Erling Bäckvall; Björn Åkermark; Jerker Mårtensson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; oxygen; catalytic oxidation; biomimetic oxidation; artificial photosynthesis; water oxidation; DFT calculations; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the development and study of catalysts for redox reactions, which either utilize oxygen or hydrogen peroxide for the purpose of selectively oxidizing organic substrates, or produce oxygen as the necessary byproduct in the production of hydrogen by artificial photosynthesis.The first chapter gives a general introduction about the use of environmentally friendly oxidants in the field of organic synthesis, and about the field of artificial photosynthesis. 3. 3. C-H Activation Reactions Mediated by Pd Based Heterogeneous Catalysts : Regioselective Formation of C-O and C-X Bonds

    Author : Maitham Majeed; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : C-H Activation; N-heterocyclic carbenes; palladium; polymer supported Pd II ; undirected acetoxylation; directed halogenation; continuous flow; reduced graphene oxide supported Pd II ;

    Abstract : New classes of N-heterocyclic carbene-palladium(II) complexes containing either a vinyl group in different positions or an anthracene tag in the backbone of the N-heterocycle were synthesized and fully characterized. The vinyl based complexes were copolymerized with divinylbenzene to fabricate robust polymer-supported NHC-Pd(II) systems, while the anthracene based complexes were π-stacked onto the surface of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) producing immobilized catalysts with interesting features. 4. 4. Surface-Induced Modification of Supported Late Transition Metal Complexes

    Author : Olesia Snezhkova; Synkrotronljusfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; N-heterocyclic carbene palladium complexes; X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; electron charge transfer; iron phthalocyanine; catalysis; X-ray absorption spectroscopy;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis addresses the investigation of the electronic, magnetic, and structural properties of late transition metal complexes supported on various surfaces. The research is aimed at studying the interaction between the molecules and the support, together with the intermolecular interaction. This knowledge is essential e.g. READ MORE

  5. 5. Nickel and iridium pincer complexes with saturated frameworks - synthesis and reactivity

    Author : Klara Jonasson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PCP complexes; aliphatic pincer ligands; coordination; cyclometallation; iridium; nickel; organometallic synthesis; CO2 activation; catalysis;

    Abstract : As the tridentate chelate complexes referred to as pincer complexes have expanded their scope as homogeneous catalysts, there is an increased interest in electronic and steric fine-tuning of such complexes. One accessible variable in this aspect is the hybridisation of any coordinated carbon atoms. READ MORE
