  1. 6. Designing Work and IT Systems : A Participatory Process that Supports Usability and Sustainability

    Author : Niklas Hardenborg; Bengt Sandblad; Jan Gulliksen; Tone Bratteteig; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : human computer interaction; usability; work design; participatory design; work analysis; user-centred design;

    Abstract : Since the use of computers and IT systems has become an essential part of many people’s daily work, the quality of IT systems’ is becoming more important for efficient, healthy and sustainable work. It has often been argued that the full potential of a new, supportive IT system seldom is achieved, because – despite implementation of the new system - outdated work procedures are still being preserved. 2. 7. Development of new techniques for the numerical modelling of railway track dynamics. Application to rolling noise assessment

    Author : Blas Blanco; Leif Kari; Ernesto García-Vadillo; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Track modelling; Timoshenko element; local deformation; distributed supports; moving Green s functions; rolling noise;

    Abstract : The numerical modelling is widely employed for the prediction of the railway track dynamic behaviour, which is of utmost importance for the characterisation of the undesired medium-high frequency phenomena, such as corrugation, wheel-out-of-roundness and noise emission. This study is devoted to the improvement of railway track numerical modelling, the efficient resolution of the problem in the time domain and the assessment of rolling noise for different approaches of the track modelling. 3. 8. Development and application of advanced electron microscopy techniques for materials in biological systems

    Author : Pernilla Nevsten; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; multiple-unit drug; EFTEM; EELS; cyanine dye; SSAT; cryo-TEM; virus; TEM; apoptosis; SEM; AFm; α-TCP; apatite; XEDS; TEM grid; microscopy supports;

    Abstract : Theoretically, electron microscopy and scanning probe microscopy offer information on a scale beyond the optical microscope. However, the quality of the micrograph and the obtained information is limited by the sample preparation. READ MORE

  4. 9. Railway track dynamic modelling

    Author : Blas Blanco; Leif Kari; Stefano Bruni; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Track modelling; Timoshenko element; local deformation; response discontinuity; distributed supports; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : The railway vehicles are an increasing mean of transportation due to, its reduced impact on environment and high level of comfort provided. These reasons have contributed to settle a positive perception of railway traffic into the European society. READ MORE

  5. 10. Lean Transformation of Industrial Work : Understanding What Supports Socially Sustainable Working Conditions During Lean Manufacturing

    Author : Malin Håkansson; Lotta Dellve; Teresia Nyman; Svend Erik Mathiassen; Per Sederblad; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Organizational Ergonomics; Work Design; Physical Ergonomics; Lean Production; Manufacturing; Working conditions; Work Content Analysis; Musculoskeletal Pain; Technology and Health; Teknik och hälsa;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis is to contribute to the understanding of to what extent lean manufacturing transforms industrial work, including psychosocial and physical working conditions, and, to understand how socially sustainable working conditions can be supported in a lean organization.Four studies with different methodological approaches are included.
