  1. 1. In-situ monitoring of laser powder bed fusion applied to defect detection

    Author : Claudia de Andrade Schwerz; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; defect detection; productivity; nickel-based superalloy; process monitoring; pores; powder bed fusion; spatter; defect mitigation; mechanical properties; lack of fusion; melt pool; Additive manufacturing;

    Abstract : Additive manufacturing technologies, particularly laser powder bed fusion (LPBF), have received much attention recently due to their numerous advantages over conventional manufacturing methods. However, the use of LPBF is still quite restricted, mainly due to two factors: its typically low productivity, which makes the technology less competitive in applications with moderate to high production volumes, and its limited reliability, particularly relevant for applications where high performance is required from the materials. 2. 2. On Defect Generation and the Appearance of Injection-Moulded Polymers

    Author : Francesco Pisciotti; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; colour; gloss; ageing; rheology; defect; mechanical properties; surface topography; recycling; polypropylene; injection moulding; mass spectroscopy; simulation; polystyrene;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses the generation of some important manufacturing defects associated with intrinsic limitations of the injection moulding process. These include bulk-surface structural discontinuities, particularly air traps and welds, bulk-surface compositional inhomogeneities and gloss and colour variations. READ MORE

  3. 3. Aspects of oral implant technology and osseointegration

    Author : Rainde Naiara Rezende de Jesus; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; biomaterials; oral implants; surface topography; surface roughness; surface energy; surface wettability; hydrophilicity; macrogeometry; implant body; thread design; surgical protocol; oversized drilling; osseointegration; bone-to-implant contact; bone density; primary implant stability; insertion torque; removal torque; removal energy; connection stiffness; osteoclasts; RAW264.7 cells; gene expression;

    Abstract : Behandling med käkbensförankrade tandimplantat är en vanlig metod för att ersätta förlorade tänder hos helt och partiellt tandlösa patienter. Trots att implantatbehandling uppvisar en långsiktigt hög lyckande- och överlevnadsfrekvens (90–95% efter 10 år) så förekommer implantatförluster och marginal benförlust kring implantaten under det första året efter insättning och/eller belastning, vilket kan försämra det estetiska resultatet. 4. 4. Polishability of tool steels : Characterisation of high gloss polished tool steels

    Author : Sabina Rebeggiani; Olaf Dambon; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tool steels; surface characterisation; polishability; 3D parameters; high gloss polishing; Surface engineering; Ytbehandlingsteknik;

    Abstract : The manufacturing of plastic components, like a majority of other mass produced discrete parts, require well designed dies and moulds. Complex geometries and increasing demands on final surface appearance, which is strongly connected to the quality impression, are pushing for high demands on mould-makers and polishers as well as steel producers. 5. 5. On Polishability of Tool Steels

    Author : Sabina Rebeggiani; Bengt-Göran Rosén; Liam Blunt; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tool steels; polishability; surface characterisation; surface texture parameters; high gloss polishing; injection moulding;

    Abstract : One of the world’s fastest growing industries is the plastic industry. Today’s ever increasing demands of high quality products, shorter lead times and reduced costs push development and research forwards. READ MORE
