21. Alloys in Contact with Molten Salts for Thermal Storage Applications
Abstract : The combination of a concentrated solar power (CSP) plant and a thermal energy storage (TES) system is a promising technology for power generation, in that it overcomes the challenges commonly faced by renewable energy systems, such as intermittency, dispatchability, and the gap between the energy supply and energy demand. The third generation (Gen3) CSP plants are designed to increase plant efficiency by using supercritical carbon dioxide (sCO2) instead of steam for the Brayton cycle gas turbines, requiring a minimum operating temperature of 750°C for the TES materials. 22. On the Internal Sizing Mechanisms of Paper with AKD and ASA Related to Surface Chemistry, Wettability and Friction
Abstract : Paper and board are hydrophobized (sized) to control the spreading and absorption of waterbased inks and retard the absorption and edge penetration of liquid packaging by aqueous liquids. Alkenyl ketene dimers (AKD) and alkenyl succinic anhydride (ASA) are synthetic sizing agents that are generally used under neutral or slightly alkaline papermaking conditions. READ MORE

23. Free Metal Clusters Studied by Photoelectron Spectroscopy
Abstract : Clusters are aggregates of a finite number of atoms or molecules. In the present work, free clusters out of metallic parent materials have been created and studied by synchrotron radiation-based photoelectron spectroscopy. The clusters have been formed and studied in a beam and the electronic structure of the clusters has been investigated. READ MORE

24. Recycling of TiO2 Pigments from Waste Paint: Process Development, Surface Analysis, and Characterization
Abstract : Pigments are commonly used in paint, plastic and paper products and titanium dioxide (TiO2), the most important white pigment, accounts for approximately 70 % of the total volume of all pigments used today. Minerals containing TiO2 are relatively abundant in the earth’s crust. READ MORE

25. Density functional study of mono-vancacies in metals and austenitic steel alloys
Abstract : Trough the following pages a comprehensive study of open structures will be shown, including mono-vacancy calculations and open surfaces. These are electronic structure calculations using density functional theory within the exact muffin tin method. READ MORE
