  1. 11. Antenna Limitations and Q-factor Trade-off between Parameters, Steps towards Optimal Antenna Design

    Author : Shuai Shi; Lars Jonsson; Ala Sharaiha; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Antenna limitation; Q-factor; directivity; radiation pattern; current optimization; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : Sub-wavelength antennas have become ubiquitous in essential devices, such as mobile phones, sensors, Internet of things (IoT) and machine to machine (M2M) communication devices. Such antennas are often embedded as a small part of the device chassis or their circuit-boards. READ MORE

  2. 12. Design optimisation of aeroengine compressor blades

    Author : Jörgen Burman; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Strömningslära; Fluid Mechanics;

    Abstract : Optimisation of multistage axial compressors is a time-demanding challenge in large need of effective methods. Traditionally, the design has been based on "trial-and-error" procedures, which count on the skills and experience of the designer to suggest redesigns that are likely to yield improvements. 3. 13. High Temperature Corrosion in Fluidised Bed Environment

    Author : Anna Nafari; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CFB; coatings; Ni and iron based alloys; HCl; SO2; loop seal; High temperature corrosion; erosion corrosion test rig; surface characterization and temperature gradient;

    Abstract : Successful material selection for power plants is the result of understanding the environment in each boiler. The boiler environment is affected by fuel chemistry, co-firing, process control and deposits as well as boiler type, design, size and load. READ MORE

  4. 14. Effects of surface plasmons in subwavelength metallic structures

    Author : Srinivasan Iyer; Ari T. Friberg; N. Asger Mortensen; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; suface plasmons; extraordinary transmission; metamaterials; shnets; split-ring resonators; plasmon-induced EIT; optical antennas; plasmonics;

    Abstract : The study of optical phenomena related to the strong electromagnetic response of noble metals (silver (Ag) and gold (Au) being most popular) over the last couple of decades has led to the emergence of a fast growing research area called plasmonics named after 'surface plasmons' which are electron density waves that propagate along the interface of a metal and a dielectric medium. Surface plasmons are formed by the coupling of light to the electrons on the metal surface subject to the fulfillment of certain physical conditions and they are bound to the metal surface.
