  1. 1. Industrially Pre-Treated Potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.) Served in Large-Scale Food Service Systems

    Author : Klara Sjölin; Avdelningen för livsmedel och läkemedel; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Potatoes Solanum tuberosum L. ; large-scale food service system; Industrial pre-treatment; subsurface hardening; Potatoes Solanum tuberosum L. ; subsurface hardening; industrial pre-treatment; large-scale food service systems;

    Abstract : In Swedish schools, a warm lunch is served every day. The lunch is prepared in a largescale food service system and includes steam-cooked potatoes several times per week. The potatoes are often industrially pre-treated to facilitate the handling and logistics required to cook hundreds of meals in a couple of hours. READ MORE

  2. 2. Fenton Pre-treatment of a Birch Kraft Pulp for MFC preparation

    Author : Pia Hellström; Helena Håkansson; Anette Heijnesson Hultén; Magnus Paulsson; Monica Ek; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microfibrillated cellulose; Fenton chemistry; carbonyl groups; surface charge; total charge; Enzymatic hydrolysis; Tensile strength; z-directional strength; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The potential to use acidic hydrogen peroxide in the presence of ferrous ions (Fenton’s reagent) as a pre-treatment when producing microfibrillar cellulose (MFC) from a fully bleached birch (Betula verucosa) kraft pulp was investigated and the properties of the produced MFC was compared to the properties of a MFC produced with enzymatic pre-treatment with a monocomponent endoglucanase (FiberCare® R). The mechanical treatment to MFC was performed in a laboratory colloid mill or in a pilot high-pressure homogeniser and the pre-treated pulps as well as the produced MFCs were chemically and morphologically characterised. 3. 3. A Study of the Adhesion Strength of Plasma Sprayed Coatings

    Author : Fouzi Bahbou; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Splat.; Surface roughness; Mechanical anchoring; Grit blasting; Adhesion strength; Protal® process; Fractal analysis; Thermal spraying; Coating; Surface pre-treatment;

    Abstract : Surface preparation prior to thermal spraying is a key factor in ensuring a good adhesion of the coating onto the part to be coated. Surface pre-treatment conditions and methods have mainly been developed experimentally and have changed little over the years. READ MORE

  4. 4. Novel concepts for advanced CMOS : Materials, process and device architecture

    Author : Dongping Wu; KTH; []
    Keywords : CMOS technology; MOSFET; high-k; gate dielectric; ALD; surface pre-treatment; metal gate; poly-SiGe; strained SiGe; surface-channel; buried-channel; notched gate;

    Abstract : The continuous and aggressive dimensional miniaturization ofthe conventional complementary-metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS)architecture has been the main impetus for the vast growth ofIC industry over the past decades. As the CMOS downscalingapproaches the fundamental limits, unconventional materials andnovel device architectures are required in order to guaranteethe ultimate scaling in device dimensions and maintain theperformance gain expected from the scaling.
