11. Surface Integrity of Broached Inconel 718 and Influence of Thermal Exposure
Abstract : Inconel 718 is a nickel-based superalloy that is extensively used as a disc material in gas turbine engines. The service life of gas turbine discs is normally governed by the modes of material degradation and fatigue failure since they work mostly at high temperatures and are subjected to cyclic mechanical loadings. 12. Transverse Mode and Beam Control in Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers
Abstract : In recent years, the demand for high performance low cost optical interconnect components has accelerated. An promising solution has been found with the vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL). READ MORE

13. Grinding effects on surface integrity, flexural strength and contact damage resistance of coated hardmetals
Abstract : The tribological and mechanical behavior of coated tools depends not only on intrinsic properties of the deposited film but also on substrate surface and subsurface properties – such as topography and residual stress state – as well as on interface adhesion strength. It is particularly true in the case of coated tools based on WC-Co cemented carbides (backbone materials of the tool manufacturing industry, and simply referred to as hardmetals in practice) as substrates. 14. Epitaxial growth optimization for 1.3-um InGaAs/GaAs Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting lasers
Abstract : Long-wavelength (1.3-μm) vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) are of great interest as low-cost, high performance light sources for fiber-optic metro and access networks. During recent years the main development effort in this field has been directed towards all epitaxial GaAs-based structures by employing novel active materials. READ MORE

15. Cenozoic landscape evolution in northern Sweden : Geomorphological interpretation within a GIS-framework
Abstract : The large-scale bedrock landscape in northern Sweden has a complex evolution history of planation, uplift, transgression, burial, weathering, and erosion. The aim of this thesis is to examine the long-term development of the area. Terms for base-level surfaces in the area are defined. READ MORE
