  1. 1. Anchorage in Concrete Structures : Numerical and Experimental Evaluations of Load-Carrying Capacity of Cast-in-Place Headed Anchors and Post-Installed Adhesive Anchors

    Author : Rasoul Nilforoush; Lennart Elfgren; Norbert Randl; Karin Lundgren; Manouchehr Hassanzadeh; Richard Malm; Lars-Erik Persson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Headed anchor; Anchor bolt; Adhesive anchor; Concrete cone breakout; Concrete splitting; Pullout loading; Size effect; Member thickness; Anchor head size; Orthogonal surface reinforcement; Concrete Strength; High-strength concrete; Cracked concrete; Steel fiber-reinforced concrete; Sustained loading; Creep behavior; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Abstract : Various anchorage systems including both cast-in-place and post-installed anchors have been developed for fastening both non-structural and structural components to concrete structures. The need for increased flexibility in the design of new structures and strengthening of existing concrete structures has led to increased use of various metallic anchors in practice. READ MORE

  2. 2. Structural Behavior of Reinforced High-Strength Concrete Columns

    Author : Christina Claeson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sustained loading; columns; slenderness; finite element analyses; nonlinear fracture mechanics; high-strength concrete; short-term loading; eccentricity;

    Abstract : The high compressive strength of high-strength concrete is especially advantageous in compressed members such as columns, which can be made more slender and, consequently, make economic benefits possible. However, the behavior of high-strength concrete columns is not yet fully understood. READ MORE

    Abstract : Advancements in drug delivery have enabled a wider array of prevention, control and treatment of diseases such as cancer. Drug delivery systems have the possibility of encapsulating drugs with low solubility, delivering them to specific locations in the body as well as obtaining a controlled and sustained drug release. 4. 4. The evolution of upper Norrland's ports and loading places 1750-1976

    Author : Ian G. Layton; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; communications patterns; economic development; export trade; forest-based industries; historical geography; industrial location; northern sweden; port evolution; ports; transport technology;

    Abstract : Models of port development have hitherto concentrated on landward communications and the organization of maritime space in their explanation of changes in port location and activity. This study demonstrates that the level of economic development in hinterlands together with industrial and marine technology are also significant factors and indeed play leading roles in the process of port evolution. 5. 5. Long-term development, modeling and management of nutrient loading to inland and coastal waters

    Author : Amelie Darracq; Georgia Destouni; Andrea Rinaldo; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : Nutrients; catchments; environmental management; climate change; population and lifestyle development; subsurface-surface water interactions; long-term simulations; nutrient retention; modeling; hydrology; transport processes; biogeochemistry; scaling; transport and reaction rates; Physical Geography; geografi med naturgeografisk inriktning;

    Abstract : Environmental and water system protection and restoration require accurate knowledge and quantification of waterborne pollutant transport, retention-release and transformation processes taking place in the subsurface, river, lake and sea water systems, and at the interfaces between these systems. This thesis investigates the importance of spatial model resolution for such quantification and the possible long-term nutrient load development under different human perturbations and nutrient source management scenarios in the Swedish Norrström drainage basin, based on simulations with the GIS-based dynamic nutrient transport-attenuation model POLFLOW.
