  1. 1. A spectroscopic study of polymer : Carbon nanotube composites

    Author : Andreas Müller; Ove Andersson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Since the identification of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) by Ijima in 1991, this material has become a subject of great interest and effort in science because of the outstanding physical properties it exhibits. CNTs can be thought of as graphene sheets rolled into seamless cylinders of various diameters and in principle infinite length. READ MORE

  2. 2. Chemistry of Carbon Nanostructures : Functionalization of Carbon Nanotubes and Synthesis of Organometallic Fullerene Derivatives

    Author : Claes-Henrik Andersson; Helena Grennberg; Nazario Martín León; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbon nanotubes; Fullerenes; Purification; Functionalization; Organometallic complexes; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on two main parts. The first part concerns purification and functionalization of carbon nanotubes (papers I-III), and the second part is related to the synthesis of organometallic fullerene derivatives (papers IV-VII): Two oxidative methods involving aqueous nitric acid were compared with respect to their capability to introduce carboxylic groups into single walled carbon nanotubes, and several literature methods for esterification and amidation of these groups have been evaluated with focus on efficiency and reproducibility in forming covalently functionalized products soluble in organic media. 3. 3. Synthesis and Characterization of Carbon Based One-Dimensional Structures : Tuning Physical and Chemical Properties

    Author : HamidReza Barzegar; Thomas Wågberg; Hans Kuzmany; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Carbon Nanotube; single-walled carbon nanotube; nitrogen doped; chemical vapor deposition; fullerene; hybrid structures; nanomaterials; nanomaterial;

    Abstract : Carbon nanostructures have been extensively used in different applications; ranging from electronic and optoelectronic devices to energy conversion. The interest stems from the fact that covalently bonded carbon atoms can form a wide variety of structures with zero-, one- and two-dimensional configuration with different physical properties. 4. 4. Carbon Nanotube Based Interconnect Material for Electronic Applications

    Author : Di Jiang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; electrical interconnect; bump; densification; electronics packaging; carbon nanotube; three dimensional integration; flexible electronics; through silicon via; transfer;

    Abstract : Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are considered as a candidate material for future electronicinterconnect applications. This thesis summarizes the research work on thefabrication and characterization of CNT-based interconnect systems, and exploresthe possibilities of integrating CNTs into various electronic interconnect scenarios. 5. 5. Toward Carbon based NEMS

    Author : Farzan Alavian Ghavanini; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; carbon nanotubes CNT ; Nanoelectromechanical systems; and CMOS compatibility ; CNT-based switch; vertically aligned carbon nanofibers VACNF ; NEMS;

    Abstract : A systematic analysis and assessment of carbon nanotube (CNT) based NEMS switches is presented and their features are compared to typical complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) performance parameters. It is shown that CNT-based switches with considerably smaller leakage current compared to CMOS switches can be realized. READ MORE
