  1. 1. Mechanistic investigations of chemical reactions on 2D MXenes and metal surfaces from first-principles

    Author : Kaifeng Niu; Jonas Björk; Johanna Rosén; Lifeng Chi; Daniele Passerone; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Density functional theory; 2D MXenes; On-surface synthesis; C-H activation; Electrochemical nitrogen reduction;

    Abstract : Chemical reactions on surfaces play a central role both for our daily life and industrial purposes, including the storage and release of energy, as well as the formation of new materials. To achieve high efficiency, catalysis lies in the heart of chemical reactions as it plays a critical role in accelerating the chemical transformation to target products. READ MORE

  2. 2. Synthesis and transport properties of 2D transition metal carbides (MXenes)

    Author : Joseph Halim; Michel Barsoum; Lars Hultman; Per Eklund; Johanna Rosén; Martin Magnuson; Jun Lu; Christina Birkel; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Since the isolation and characterization of graphene, there has been a growing interest in 2D materials owing to their unique properties compared to their 3D counterparts. Recently, a family of 2D materials of early transition metal carbides and nitrides, labelled MXenes, has been discovered (Ti2CTz, Ti3C2Tz, Mo2TiC2Tz, Ti3CNTz, Ta4C3Tz, Ti4N3Tz among many others), where T stands for surface-terminating groups (O, OH, and F). 3. 3. Synthesis and Characterization of 2D Nanocrystals and Thin Films of Transition Metal Carbides (MXenes)

    Author : Joseph Halim; Michael Barsoum; Lars Hultman; Yury Gogotsi; Per Eklund; Johanna Rosén; Jun Lu; Martin Magnuson; Ulf Jansson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Two dimensional (2D) materials have received growing interest because of their unique properties compared to their bulk counterparts. Graphene is the archetype 2D solid, but other materials beyond graphene, such as MoS2 and BN have become potential candidates for several applications. READ MORE

  4. 4. Synthesis and characterization of Mo-based nanolaminates

    Author : Rahele Meshkian; Johanna Rosén; Árni Sigurður Ingason; Hans Högberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Mn+1AXn (MAX) phases are nanolaminated compounds based on a transition metal (M), a group A element (A), and carbon or/and nitrogen (X), which exhibit a unique combination of ceramic and metallic properties. Mo-based MAX phases are among the least studied, despite indication of superconducting properties and high potential for fabrication of the grapheneanalogous 2D counterpart, Mo2C MXene. READ MORE

  5. 5. Surface characterization of 2D transition metal carbides (MXenes)

    Author : Ingemar Persson; Per Persson; Justinas Palisaitis; Johanna Rosén; Vanya Darakchieva; Vincent Mauchamp; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Research on two-dimensional (2D) materials is a rapidly growing field owing to the wide range of new interesting properties found in 2D structures that are vastly different from their three-dimensional (3D) analogues. In addition, 2D materials embodies a significant surface area that facilitates a high degree of surface reactions per unit volume or mass, that is imperative in many applications such as catalysis, energy storage, energy conversion, filtration, and single molecule sensing.
