  1. 16. Methods for Asymmetric Olefination Reactions; Development and Application to Natural Product Synthesis

    Author : Daniel Strand; Tobias Rein; Viresh Rawal; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Antitumor agents; Asymmetric Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons; Desymmetrization; Metal-catalyzed olefination; Mucocin; Palladium-catalyzed allylic substitution; Parallel kinetic resolution; Pyranicin; Pyragonicin; Rhenium; Stereoconvergent synthesis; Stereodivergent synthesis; Stereoselective synthesis; Tetrahydropyran; Wittig reaction; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the development and application of methods for asymmetric olefinations, in particular Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons (HWE) reactions, in the synthesis of certain natural products. Relying on asymmetric HWE reactions to access key building blocks, two natu-ral products, pyranicin and pyragonicin, were synthesized from common late intermediates. READ MORE

  2. 17. Representation of Compositional Relational Programs

    Author : Görkem Paçacı; Andreas Hamfelt; Alberto Pettorossi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Programming; Syntax; Logic Programming; Combilog; CombInduce; Prolog; Variable-free; Point-free; Tacit; Compositional Relational Programming; Combinatory Logic; Predicate-Functor Logic; Program Synthesis; Meta-interpreters; Meta-interpretative Synthesis; Decompositional Synthesis; Inductive Synthesis; Inductive Logic Programming; Usability; Cognitive Dimensions of Notations; Visual Variables; Usability testing; Programming Language usability; Empirical evidence; Informationssystem; Information Systems;

    Abstract : Usability aspects of programming languages are often overlooked, yet have a substantial effect on programmer productivity. These issues are even more acute in the field of Inductive Synthesis, where programs are automatically generated from sample expected input and output data, and the programmer needs to be able to comprehend, and confirm or reject the suggested programs. 3. 18. High-Level Synthesis for SiLago : Advances in Optimization of High-Level Synthesis Tool and Neural Network Algorithms

    Author : Yu Yang; Ahmed Hemani; Zhonghai Lu; Madhura Purnaprajna; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronic Design Automation EDA ; Computer Aided Design CAD ; Algorithm-level Synthesis; SiLago; Optimization Techniques; Neural Network; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Abstract : Embedded hardware designs and their automation improve energy and engineering efficiency. However, these two goals are often contradictory. The attempts to improve energy efficiency often come at the cost of engineering efficiency and vice-versa. High-level synthesis (HLS) is a good example of this challenge. READ MORE

  4. 19. Structure-Based Design and Synthesis of Protease Inhibitors Using Cycloalkenes as Proline Bioisosteres and Combinatorial Syntheses of a Targeted Library

    Author : Fredrik Thorstensson; Ingemar Kvarnström; Charles Hedgecock; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; organic chemistry; organic synthesis; combinatorial synthesis; metathesis; olefin metathesis; thrombin; HCV; NS3; protease; proline isosteres; inhibitor; Organic synthesis; Organisk syntes;

    Abstract : Structure-based drug design and combinatorial chemistry play important roles in the search for new drugs, and both these elements of medicinal chemistry were included in the present studies. This thesis outlines the synthesis of protease inhibitors against thrombin and the HCV NS3 protease, as well as the synthesis of a combinatorial library using solid phase chemistry. READ MORE

  5. 20. Nanocellulose and Metal-Organic Framework-Based Composites : Synthesis, Characterization, and Applications

    Author : Shengyang Zhou; Chao Xu; Maria Strömme; Lars Wågberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Nanocellulose; Metal–organic frameworks; Nanocomposites; Interfacial synthesis; Porous materials; Energy storage; Water purification;

    Abstract : Nanocellulose is one of the most promising of the green materials available for use in a sustainable economy because of its natural abundance and renewability. Compared to petroleum‒derived synthetic polymers, nanocellulose has many unparalleled advantages such as its unique nanofibrous structure, high thermal stability, mechanical flexibility, rich surface chemistry, biocompatibility, and biodegradability.
