    Abstract : Capillary-based platforms for diagnostics are popular for the point-of-care diagnostics market because of their low cost, easy fabrication, and easy operation. Lateral flow tests are an excellent example of capillary-based platforms for point-of-care diagnostics. READ MORE

  2. 2. The synthetic chromosphere : Results and techniques with a numerical approach

    Author : Johan Pires Bjørgen; Jorrit Leenaarts; Oskar Steiner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Sun; chromosphere; radiative transfer; numerical method; Astronomy; astronomi;

    Abstract : Realistic numerical simulations of the solar atmosphere can be used to interpret different phenomena observed on the solar surface. To gain insight into the atmospheric physical conditions, we compare the observations with 3D radiative magnetohydrodynamic models combined with forward modeling (radiative transfer). READ MORE

  3. 3. Synthesis of C(sp2)-P bonds by palladium-catalyzed reactions : Mechanistic investigations and synthetic studies

    Author : Marcin Kalek; Jacek Stawinski; Jean-Luc Montchamp; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry; organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on synthetic and mechanistic aspects of palladium-catalyzed C(sp2)-P bond-forming reactions, with the aim to develop mild and efficient methods for the synthesis of biologically active phosphorus compounds, e.g. DNA analogs. READ MORE

  4. 4. Molecular Interactions in Thin Films of Biopolymers, Colloids and Synthetic Polyelectrolytes

    Author : Johansson Erik; Lars Wågberg; Andreas Fery; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polyelectrolyte multilayers; Layer-by-Layer assembly; Adhesion; Adsorption; Young s modulus; Mechanical buckling; AFM; JKR; SPAR; QCM-D; SIEBIMM; PAH; PAA; Starch; NFC; Nanocellulose;

    Abstract : The development of the layer-by-layer (LbL) technique has turned out to be an efficient way to physically modify the surface properties of different materials, for example to improve the adhesive interactions between fibers in paper. The main objective of the work described in this thesis was to obtain fundamental data concerning the adhesive properties of wood biopolymers and LbL films, including the mechanical properties of the thin films, in order to shed light on the molecular mechanisms responsible for the adhesion between these materials. 5. 5. Amino acid sequence and side chain specific synthetic receptors targeting protein phosphorylation

    Author : Anil Incel; Frank Kjeldsen; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; imprinted polymers; synthetic receptors; PTM; phosphorylation; enrichment; diagnosis;

    Abstract : Antibodies have become a critical component of many diagnostic assays and are used for therapeutic purposes. Nevertheless they often fail to meet the strict performance demands raised in industry and in the clinic (e.g. stability, reproducibility, selectivity, affinity). READ MORE
