  1. 11. Cost-effective incentives for local electric utilities and industries in co-operation : modelling of technical measures

    Author : Maria Andersson; Björn Karlsson; Curt Björk; Tomas Kåberger; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy system; System cost; Electricity market; Co-operation; Demand-side management; Energy efficiency;

    Abstract : In the Swedish electricity system there is a great potential for increasing the cost efficiency of the electricity use. However, today the economic incentives, offered for instance by existing electricity rates, are too weak to improve the use of the system. READ MORE

  2. 12. Cooperation in local electricity markets : modelling of technical measures

    Author : Maria Andersson; Björn Karlsson; Curt Björk; Tomas Larsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy system; System cost; Electricity market; Co-operation; Demand-side management; Energy efficiency; Shadow prices;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a system analysis for co-operation in local electricity markets including distributors and customers. The purpose of co-operation is to minimise the system cost of local markets by introducing system measures, such as end-use measures and municipal co-generation plants. READ MORE

  3. 13. Closing the Loop by Combining UASB Reactor and Reactive Bed Filetr Technology for wastewater Treatment : Modelling and Practical Approaches

    Author : Raúl Rodríguez-Gómez; Gunno Renman; Björn Vinnerås; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bench-scale experiment; Modelling; Polonite; Sorbulite; UASB; Wastewater; Mark- och vattenteknik; Land and Water Resources Engineering;

    Abstract : A laboratory-scale upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor followed by a packed bed reactor (PBR) filled with Sorbulite® in the lower part and Polonite® in the upper part was used to treat household wastewater in a 50-week experiment. A model was developed to describe the performance of the UASB reactor, including mass transfer through the film around anaerobic granules, intra-particle diffusion and bioconversion of the substrate. 4. 14. On a learning system for industrial automation : Model-based control and diagnostics for decision support

    Author : Moksadur Rahman; Konstantinos Kyprianidis; Anders Avelin; Gunnar Bengtsson; John Hedengren; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Learning system; Supervisory system; Pulp and paper; Micro gas turbine; Process modelling; Model-based control; Diagnostics; Decision support; Anomaly detection; Fault detection; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Access to energy is fundamental to economic and technological advancement. Hence, the more the world develops, the greater the demand for energy becomes. Evidently, the production and consumption of energy alone account for more than 80% of global anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. READ MORE

  5. 15. Energy Usage in Supermarkets - Modelling and Field Measurements

    Author : Jaime Arias; Per Lundqvist; Denis Clodic; KTH; []
    Keywords : Supermarket; Energy Performance; System Analysis; Modelling; Simulation; Field Measurements; Refrigeration Systems; Indirect Systems; Heat Recovery; Floating Condensing; TEWI; LCC.; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates a special type of energy system, namely energy use in supermarkets through modelling, simulations and field studies. A user-friendly computer program, CyberMart, which calculates the total energy performance of a supermarket, is presented. READ MORE
