    Abstract : The effects of greenhouse gas net emissions on global warming, stricter legislation on waste handling, and the pursuit of ever cheaper heat- and power production are all important factors driving the introduction of complex fuels in incineration plants. However - without fundamental knowledge regarding ash transformation, corrosion control, and materials selection – this introduction of potentially economically and environmentally beneficial fuels, might instead cause economic loss and environmentally adverse effects. Abstract : Driven by intense competition, increasing operational cost and strict environmental regulations, the modern process and energy industry needs to find the best possible way to adapt to maintain profitability. Optimization of control and operation of the industrial systems is essential to satisfy the contradicting objectives of improving product quality and process efficiency while reducing production cost and plant downtime. 3. 3. Pawsitive selection : Genetics of dog-human communication

    Author : Mia Persson; Per Jensen; Lina Roth; Dominic Wright; Ádám Miklósi; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Through domestication and recent selection, dogs have evolved a unique set of communicative skills to attract and redirect human attention. These social skills have not been seen to the same extent in socialised wolves and are therefore believed to have a significant genetic basis. READ MORE

  4. 4. Tools for Autonomous Process Control

    Author : Anders Wallén; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sequential control; software architectures; fast set point response; spectral estimation; frequency domain identification; relay feedback; non-linear system identification; Autonomous Control; Process Control; Grafcet; Automation; robotics; control engineering; Automatiska system; robotteknik; reglerteknik;

    Abstract : There is an ongoing trend towards higher automation level in process control systems. The purpose of a plant is to manufacture some product at a high production rate with a consistent quality, while minimizing the use of resources in terms of energy consumption, raw material and labor. Abstract : Access to energy is fundamental to economic and technological advancement. Hence, the more the world develops, the greater the demand for energy becomes. Evidently, the production and consumption of energy alone account for more than 80% of global anthropogenic greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. READ MORE
