  1. 1. Measurement of sensitivity to DNA damaging agents

    Author : Sherin T Mathew; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; intrinsic sensitivity; DNA damage; ionizing radiation; cell division;

    Abstract : There is a large inter-individual variation in intrinsic sensitivity in patients receiving treatment with DNA damaging agents. Cancer therapy exemplifies this problem where patients experience varying degree of normal tissue side effects in response to radiation or chemotherapy. READ MORE

  2. 2. Shb and Its Homologues: Signaling in T Lymphocytes and Fibroblasts

    Author : Cecilia Lindholm; Hamid Band; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Shb; T cell receptor; IL-2 receptor; PDGF receptor; cell signaling; adapter proteins; LAT; Vav; PLC-g1; SLP-76; JAK1; JAK3; Jurkat cells; T cells; NK cells; Apoptosis.; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Abstract : Stimulation of the T cell receptor (TCR) induces tyrosine phosphorylation of numerous intracellular proteins, leading to activation of the interleukin-2 (IL-2) gene in T lymphocytes. Shb is a ubiquitously expressed adapter protein, with the ability to associate with the T cell receptor and several signaling proteins in T cells, including: the TCR ζ-chain, LAT, PLC-γ1, Vav, SLP-76 and Gads. 3. 3. Anaplastic lymphoma kinase activity, a therapeutic target, suppresses neuroblastoma cell differentiation

    Author : Joachim T. Siaw; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Neuroblastoma; ALK; 11q.; DLG2; SP1; differentiation; crizotinib; ceritinib; brigatinib;

    Abstract : Neuroblastoma (NB) is the most common extracranial pediatric solid malignancy caused by the failed differentiation of precursor cells of the developing sympathetic nervous system. NB accounts for about 15% of childhood cancer-related deaths. READ MORE

  4. 4. Molecular and Cellular Complexity of Glioma : Highlights on the Double-Edged-Sword of Infiltration Versus Proliferation and the Involvement of T Cells

    Author : Demet Çağlayan; Bengt Westermark; Maria Ferletta; Ana Martin-Villalba; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; glioma; Sox2; Sox21; Snail; Bone morphogenetic protein; Sleeping Beauty; Gliomatosis Cerebri; T lymphocytes; T regulatory lymphocytes; Oncology; Onkologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Abstract : Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), the most common and malignant brain tumor, is characterized by high molecular and cellular heterogeneity within and among tumors. Parameters such as invasive growth, infiltration of immune cells and endothelial proliferation contribute in a systemic manner to maintain the malignancy. READ MORE

  5. 5. Cholesterol in T cells : homeostasis, plasma membrane organization and signaling

    Author : Saleemulla Mahammad; Ingela Parmryd; Thomas Harder; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Plasma membrane; T cells; Cholesterol; Lipid rafts; Membrane organization; Cholesterol homeostasis; cholesteryl esters; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Abstract : The plasma membrane of eukaryotic cells contains cholesterol and glycosphingolipids enriched nanodomains known as lipid rafts; which are believed to exist in a liquid ordered (lo) state. Methyl-beta-cyclodextrin (MBCD) is used to deplete cellular cholesterol and a widespread assumption is that MBCD preferentially targets cholesterol in lipid rafts. READ MORE
