  1. 1. The Uncemented Cup in Total Hip Arthroplasty : stability, Wear and Osteolysis

    Author : Volker T C Otten; Sead Crnalic; Kjell G Nilsson; André Stark; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Background: Artificial hip joint replacement has undergone tremendous development in the past 100 years. In the beginning, complications, such as infection and early loosening, were the rule rather than the exception. Today, complications of any sort are rare during the first decade after the operation. 2. 2. Design and Synthesis of Galectin Inhibitors

    Author : Pernilla Sörme; Barbro Kahl Knutson; U Wellmar; B-G Magnusson; Hakon Leffler; Ulf Nilsson; Yuan C. Lee; Reiko T. Lee; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Parallel Synthesis; Inhibitors; Biomedicinska vetenskaper allmänt ; General biomedical sciences; Carbohydrates; Galectins;

    Abstract : Galectins, a lectin family, have shown binding affinities towards b-galactosides. Galectins have been proposed to be involved in a wide range of functions like for example, cell growth, adhesion, migration, chemo taxis and apoptosis. They have also been associated with various cancer types. READ MORE

  3. 3. Characterization of Endocrine Cells and Tumours in the Stomach

    Author : Apostolos V. Tsolakis; Eva T. Janson; Mats Stridsberg; Guida M. Portela-Gomes; Ola Nilsson; Uppsala universitet; []

  4. 4. Marsupial Mitogenomics

    Author : Maria Nilsson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetics; Biologi; Biology; divergence times; K T-boundary; phylogenetic reconstruction; Ameridelphia; Australidelphia; Notoryctes; Dromiciops; Marsupialia; mitochondrial genomes; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Abstract : The relationships of the mammalian infraclass Marsupialia have been investigated by phylogenetic analysis using completely sequenced mitochondrial genomes. The organisation and structure of the marsupial mitochondrial genomes deviates from the general mammalian structure. READ MORE

  5. 5. High-Resolution Measurement of the 4He(g,n) Reaction in the Giant Resonance Region

    Author : Björn Nilsson; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; tagged photons; photonuclear reactions; liquid helium; neutron detectors; liquid scintillators; giant resonances; angular distributions; differential cross sections; total cross sections; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:2003:Nilsson;

    Abstract : A comprehensive near-threshold 4He(g,n) absolute cross section measurement has been performed at the high-resolution tagged-photon facility MAX-lab located in Lund, Sweden. The 20 < Eg < 45 MeV tagged photons (covering the Giant Dipole Resonance energy region) were directed towards a liquid 4He target, and knocked-out neutrons were detected in a pair of 60 cm x 60 cm vetoed NE213A liquid scintillator arrays.
