    Abstract : Popular Abstract in Swedish Fåglars flygförmåga I alla tider har vi fascinerats av fåglars förmåga att flyga, och många försök att förstå och efterlikna dem har gjorts. Kanske den förste som på allvar intresserade sig för mekanismerna bakom fåglars flykt var Leonardo da Vinci som runt år 1500 funderade på hur fåglar alstrar lyftkraft. READ MORE

  2. 2. Neural mechanisms for the visual control of spatial orientation and locomotion : Electrophysiological and behavioural studies of the supraspinal control of posture and steering in the lamprey central nervous system, with reference to visuo-motor mechanisms

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, false

    Author : Fredrik Ullén; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [1996]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Neural mechanisms for the supraspinal control of posture and steering, in particular visuo- motor control and visuo-vestibular interaction in postural control, were investigated, using the lamprey as a model system. Behavioural experiments on intact and chronically lesioned animals, intra- and extracellular recordings in vitro and retrograde staining of neurons with horseradish peroxidase were utilized. Abstract : Popular Abstract in English Insects, birds, bats and pterosaurs have all evolved the ability to fly, even though it requires a lot of energy. The advantage is obvious: one can move about vertically, to go where others cannot, find and access distant food sources or escape your predators. READ MORE
