  1. 1. Recombinant CXCR4/CCR5 hybrid receptors as tools for studies of HIV-1 receptor usage

    Author : Liselotte Antonsson; Drug Target Discovery; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin människa och djur ; evolution; pathogenesis; cerebrospinal fluid; Medicine human and vertebrates ; TAK-779; RANTES; CXCR4; CCR5; coreceptor; GPCR; HIV-1;

    Abstract : The chemokine receptors CCR5 and CXCR4 are required, together with CD4, for the entry of HIV-1 into target cells. CCR5 using HIV-1 dominates during transmission and the asymptomatic phase of infection. During progression, virus phenotypes with the ability to use CXCR4 emerge in about 50% of infected individuals. 2. 2. Green roof vegetation and storm water runoff quantity - Effects of plant traits, diversity and life strategies

    Author : Joel Lönnqvist; Godecke-Tobias Blecken; Maria Viklander; Ishi Buffam; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; VA-teknik; Urban Water Engineering; Centrumbildning - Centrum för dagvattenhantering DRIZZLE ; Centre - Centre for Stormwater Management DRIZZLE ;

    Abstract : Green roofs have gained recognition and popularity globally for their potential to help mitigate the negative impacts of urbanization such as habitat loss and disruption of the water cycle caused by increased impervious surfaces. However, there is still a need to enhance our understanding of green roof vegetation dynamics and how they affect plant water use and hydrological function under varying environmental conditions. 3. 3. Switching ON Fetal B Lymphopoiesis

    Author : Trine Kristiansen; Avdelningen för molekylär hematologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; B-1 B cells; Lin28; Fetal hematopoietic stem cells;

    Abstract : B-1a cells are innate-like lymphocytes that develop primarily during fetal and neonatal life, whereas adult bone marrow (BM) hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) preferentially give rise to follicular B-2 cells. Functioning at the interface of the innate and adaptive immune systems, B-1a cells provide a non-redundant first line of defense prior to the temporally delayed establishment of a B-2 cell response. 4. 4. Ultrasound Assessment and Vascular Mechanics in Takayasu Arteritis and Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

    Author : Christina Svensson; Helene Zachrisson; Christopher Sjöwall; Per Eriksson; Andreas P. Diamantopoulos; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Takayasu arteritis (TAK) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) are inflammatory diseases that primarily affect young women. TAK is a rare vasculitis that affects the aorta and its main branches, whereas SLE is a chronic autoimmune disease that effects multiple organs. READ MORE

  5. 5. Beneficial Use of Stormwater - Opportunities for urban renewal and water conservation

    Author : Edgar Villarreal-Gonzalez; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; soil mechanics; Väg- och vattenbyggnadsteknik; offshore technology; hydraulic engineering; Civil engineering; water conservation; rainwater collection; Best Management Practices; Urban stormwater; green-roofs; open drainage systems;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the beneficial use of stormwater in Swedish urban environments. The focus has been on open stormwater systems for source control, as well as rainwater collection systems. To analyse the implementation of open stormwater systems, two case studies are presented: Augustenborg in Malmö and Bäckaslöv wetland in Växjö. READ MORE
