  1. 1. The Life and Times of Targeted Killing

    Author : Markus Gunneflo; Juridiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Targeted killing; assassination; international law; constitutional law; human rights; law of armed conflict; law of occupation; history; politics; Roberto Esposito; Walter Benjamin; Carl Schmitt; sovereignty; community; immunity;

    Abstract : Against the background of the ongoing shift in the perception of the legality and legitimacy of extraterritorial lethal force in counterterrorism, this thesis analyses the emergence of so-called “targeted killing” in the history of Israel and the US, as well as in international law. It finds that the relationship between targeted killing and law, particularly international law, is not a straightforward case of more or less determinate and legally binding norms being applied to state measures adopted in situations of insecurity (in this case, those of the second Intifada and 9/11) but rather one of a much longer and mutually productive relationship. 2. 2. Targeted therapy and outcome in chronic lymphocytic leukemia

    Author : Sandra Eketorp Sylvan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Despite major advances, chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is still considered incurable. Fludarabine refractory patients and those with TP53disruptions have a particularly poor prognosis. Alemtuzumab is an established treatment option for these patients. However, its use is complicated by immunosuppressive side effects. READ MORE

  3. 3. Metastatic Breast Cancer: Biomolecular Characterization and Targeted Therapy

    Author : Siker Kimbung; Bröstcancer-genetik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Metastatic breast cancer; biomarker conversion; liver metastasis-selective genes; prognosis; BRCA1; PARP1;

    Abstract : Metastasis is a complex process that remains a major challenge in the clinical management of cancer, because most cancer-related deaths are attributed to disseminated disease rather than the primary tumor. Despite the significant advances in the prediction of prognosis, and therapeutic management of primary breast cancers, coupled with the substantial improvement in our understanding of the molecular determinants of metastasis, breast cancer relapse and death rates remain unacceptably high. 4. 4. Tumor-targeted superantigens for experimental immunotherapy of human leukemia/lymphoma

    Author : Cecilia Weigelt; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; SAg; SEA; SEAm; HLA class II; TCR; CFL; SDCC; cytotoxicity; TNF a; IFN g; mAb; PA-SEAm; anti-CD19-Fab-SEAm; B-CLL; B-NHL; AML; CML; immunotherapy; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; Clinical Immunology; klinisk immunologi;

    Abstract : Bacterial superantigens (SAgs) have the property of stimulating high proportions of T cells expressing certain TCR Vβ sequences. The SAg first binds with high affinity to HLA class II molecules on the target cell and then stimulates the T cell to produce cytokines and to become cytotoxic. READ MORE

  5. 5. Antibody Mediated Radionuclide Targeting of HER-2 for Cancer Diagnostics and Therapy : Preclinical Studies

    Author : Mikael Persson; Per-Uno Malmström; Vladimir Tolmachev; Jörgen Carlsson; Marion De Jong; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Molecular medicine; Neoplasm Antibodies; Targeted Radiotherapy; Radionuclide Imaging; Molekylärmedicin;

    Abstract : Targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT) holds great promise for the treatment of cancer. In TRT, radioactive nuclides are delivered specifically to tumours by molecules that recognise and bind to structures overexpressed by, or specific to, cancer cells. READ MORE
