6. Development of Substance P 1–7 Related Peptides and Peptidomimetics : Targeting Neuropathic Pain
Abstract : The neuropeptide substance P 1–7 (SP1–7, H-Arg1-Pro2-Lys3-Pro4-Gln5-Gln6-Phe7-OH) and its amidated analogue SP1–7 amide, have displayed intriguing effects in experimental models for neuropathic pain acting on a specific, yet unknown SP1–7 target. The aim of this thesis was to design and synthesise SP1–7 related peptides and peptidomimetics, to be used as research tools to study the SP1–7 system, and to serve as drug leads in the neuropathic pain area. 7. Protein targeting, translocation and insertion in Escherichia coli : Proteomic analysis of substrate-pathway relationships
Abstract : Approximately 10% of the open reading frames in the genome of the Gram-negative bacterium E. coli encodes secretory proteins, and 20% encodes integral inner membrane proteins (IMPs). READ MORE

8. Knowing and Seeing the Combatant. War, Counterinsurgency and Targeting in International Law
Abstract : Knowing and Seeing the Combatant investigates how does the US counterinsurgent forces make distinction between civilians and combatants during targeting practices? This dissertation is specifically focused on the visual dynamics of the contemporary targeting and as such argues that the insurgent's withdrawal from the obligation of visual self-identification as targets by not wearing military uniform reveals a complicated logic of target-ability in the laws of armed conflict (LOAC).Focusing on the legal, political and visual functions of the military uniform, this dissertation argues that LOAC legitimises lethal violence by reliance on a particular conception of human target that can be summarised as a nexus of ‘knowledge – contribution to adversarial militarised willpower – and Vision – material modes of visibility and invisibility’. 9. Antibody-Based Radionuclide Targeting for Diagnostics and Therapy : Preclinical Studies on Head and Neck Cancer
Abstract : Antibody-based targeting techniques play an increasingly important role in cancer research. By targeting a structure that is abundant in tumour cells, but rare in healthy tissues, an antibody can mediate the delivery of radioactivity specifically to tumour cells in the body. READ MORE

10. Mining DNA elements involved in targeting of chromatin modifiers
Abstract : Background: In all higher organisms, the nuclear DNA is condensed into nucleosomes that consist of DNA wrapped around a core of highly conserved histone proteins. DNA bound to histones and other structural proteins form the chromatin. READ MORE
