1. Application of the Fluoresecence Lidar Techniques in the Architectural Heritage
Abstract : The primary aim of the research project is to analyse the potential for the application of lidar and fluorescence techniques in building investigation, and also to establish a scientific remote-sensing method for surveying and analysing the historical facade that is non-destructive and can be used in-situ. The fluorescence lidar method uses point-monitoring and scanning of areas that can provide multispectral images in order to identify materials, biodeteriogens and other substances not visible to the human eye. 2. Sperm maturation and conservation in felids
Abstract : Many of the world's wild feline species are threatened by extinction. Gene banks are created with the aim of preserving their genetic materials. In case of unexpected death of the animals, epididymal sperm preservation can be used to avoid loss of genetic material. READ MORE

3. Non-Invasive Monitoring of Architectural Heritage
Abstract : The on-site documentation and examination of architectural heritage has presented challenges for traditional analysis methods in the form of, among other things, large complex structures, sites and environmental conditions. In recent years there has been growing interest in assessing progressing deterioration processes and material analysis, with an emphasis on sustainable conservation and maintenance planning. 4. Population History and Non-invasive Monitoring : Use of low copy number DNA in Conservation Genetics
Abstract : Conservation genetics research is increasingly becoming an integrated part of the management of small and endangered populations. In this thesis I developed tools for genetic analysis of low copy number sources of DNA, such as old teeth from museum specimens as well as field-collected faeces and urine. READ MORE

5. Ageing and Conservation of Silk. Evaluation of Three Support Methods Using Artificially Aged Silk
Abstract : The general aim of this thesis is to evaluate common remedial conservation support methods used in the conservation treatments of fragile silk costumes that have experienced physical damage. It is based on five papers. READ MORE
