1. Multisensor arrays : for bioprocess monitoring
Abstract : Bioprocess engineering, the technology that is focused on the exploitation of the metabolic potential of biological agents, has attracted growing interest throughout the past 50 years from both scientific and industrial communities. The products that have been brought to market range from pharmaceuticals and enzymes to food products and vitamins. READ MORE

2. Mobile systems for monitoring Parkinson's disease
Abstract : A challenge for the clinical management of Parkinson's disease (PD) is the large within- and between-patient variability in symptom profiles as well as the emergence of motor complications which represent a significant source of disability in patients. This thesis deals with the development and evaluation of methods and systems for supporting the management of PD by using repeated measures, consisting of subjective assessments of symptoms and objective assessments of motor function through fine motor tests (spirography and tapping), collected by means of a telemetry touch screen device. 3. Foresight and Feedback: Monitoring and assessing the environmental implications of emerging technologies
Abstract : The magnitude of the change required to approach sustainability indicates an effort that will have to be sustained over decades, during which vast new technology systems will have to be developed and deployed. Yet technological development is a double edged sword, and these efforts will inevitably incur unintended consequences. READ MORE

4. Structural health monitoring using modern sensor technology : long-term monitoring of the New Årsta Railway Bridge
Abstract : Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) is a helpful tool for engineers in order to control and verify the structural behaviour. SHM also guides the engineers and owners of structures in decision making concerning the maintenance, economy and safety of structures. READ MORE

5. Sensing the environment : development of monitoring aids for persons with profound deafness or deafblindness
Abstract : Earlier studies of persons with deafness (D) and/or deafblindness (DB) have primarily focused on the mobility and communication problems. The purpose of the present study was to develop technology for monitoring aids to improve the ability of persons with D and/or DB to detect, identify, and perceive direction of events that produce sounds in their surroundings.
