16. Modelling and simulation of support systems to predict operational availability
Abstract : The aim of the work presented in this thesis is the development of the tools that support industry in offering FPs as a viable business case. A support system modelling and simulation tool, such as the one demonstrated in this thesis, would improve the possibilities of developing the support system early, concurrently with the development of the hardware. 17. Knowledge retention and reuse : supporting engineering decisions in simulation-driven product development
Abstract : Information exchange is becoming more and more important as modern manufacturers increasingly rely on integrated product development. Research shows that designers may not be aware of existing information or be willing to disrupt their work to search for the relevant information. READ MORE

18. Spark Plasma Sintered 3Y-TZP/CNT composites
Abstract : Composites of 3 mol% yttria-doped tetragonal zirconia (3Y-TZP) reinforced with multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) up to 2 wt% have been produced using spark plasma sintering (SPS). The theoretical densities of the studied composites were found to be between 99.4 and 97.4 %. READ MORE

19. Condition monitoring of railway vehicles : a study on wheel condition for heavy haul rolling stock
Abstract : A railway is an energy efficient mode of transport as it uses the low resistance contact between wheel and rail. This contact is not frictionless and causes wear on both surfaces. The wheel-rail guidance is made possible by the shapes of wheel and rail profiles. READ MORE

20. A Study of Factors Affecting the Particle Size for Water Atomised Metal Powders
Abstract : The production of metal powders by water atomisation is a well established process, which can be used to produce a wide range of particle sizes. A careful control of the particle size distribution is necessary, to atomise powders with a high quality and at a low production cost. READ MORE
