  1. 1. Enhancing Physics Learning through Instruction, Technical Vocabulary and ICT : A Case of Higher Education in Rwanda

    Author : Joseph Rusanganwa; Ingrid Andersson; Sven Andersson; Berner Lindström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Tertiary education; language shift; EFL; physics technical vocabulary; CALL; software encoding; social constructivist theory; cognitive theory of learning with multimedia; ICT tools; transforming learning; Rwanda; Högre utbildning; förändrad språkpolitik; engelskt fackspråk inom fysik; CALL; konstruktion av mjukvara; socialkonstruktivistisk och kognitiv teori; lärande med multimedia; IKT; transformering av lärande; Rwanda;

    Abstract : The overarching aim of this thesis is to explore how teaching and learning in tertiary education is performed in times of change both in language policy and learning approaches. The study takes social constructivist and socio-cultural theories as its major points of departure. READ MORE

    Author : Fredrik Lindeberg; Alf Westelius; Nils-Göran Olve; Bertil Thorngren; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; internet; internet coordination; internet governance; coordination; Economic Information Systems; Ekonomiska informationssystem;

    Abstract : Många självklarheter i vårt digitala samhälle är beroende av Internet för att fungera. Allt från smarta dörrar för hemtjänster, till självscanningsapparaterna på ICA, till nyare bilar, moderna tillverkningsrobotar, telefoner och affärssystem. READ MORE

  3. 3. MRI at 3 T of brain functions and fibre tracts adjacent to intracranial tumors

    Author : Danielle van Westen; Lund Diagnostisk radiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; radiology; tomography; Clinical physics; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; somatosensory cortex; diffusion magnetic resonance imaging; neoplasms; Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging;

    Abstract : The aims of the studies were: to evaluate the spatial resolution of fMRI at 3 T by studying fingersomatotopy in area 3 b of the primary sensory area (Paper 1); to investigate the potential of fMRI at 3T as a clinical tool for preoperative evaluation of patients with intracranial tumors (Paper 2); to investigate the effect of glioma resection on the spatial extent of fMRI activation as compared to the normal within-subject variability (Paper 3); to determine whether the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and fractional anisotropy (FA) can distinguish tumor-infiltrated edema of gliomas from pure edema of meningiomas and metastases (Paper 4). Results: Strict somatotopic organisation in the primary sensory cortex was shown in the group average; at the subject level the thumb was located laterally, anteriorly and inferiorly to the little finger in 94 % of subjects (Paper 1). 4. 4. Chloride-based Silicon Carbide CVD

    Author : Henrik Pedersen; Erik Janzén; Anne Henry; Yaroslav Koshka; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Silicon carbide (SiC) is a promising material for high power and high frequency devices due to its wide bandgap, high break down field and high thermal conductivity. The most established technique for growth ofepitaxial layers of SiC is chemical vapor deposition (CVD) at around 1550 °C using silane, SiH4, and lighthydrocarbons e g propane, C3H8, or ethylene, C2H4, as precursors heavily diluted in hydrogen. 5. 5. Single-Electron Tunneling Spectroscopy in Magnetic Nanoparticles and Molecular Magnets

    Author : Lukasz Michalak; Fasta tillståndets fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; master equation; magnetic nanoparticles; spin accumulation; molecular magnets; TMR; tunneling magnetoresistance; F-SET; ferromagnetic single-electron transistor; single-electron tunneling; nanomagnetism; spintronics; Coulomb blockade;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with single-electron tunneling in transistor-like devices in which the central electrode is either a metal nanoparticle (possibly ferromagnetic) or a molecular magnet. The investigated systems split into two different categories, depending on the size of the central island. READ MORE
