  1. 1. Swedish speech rhythm in a cross-language perspective

    Author : Eva Strangert; Claes-Christian Elert; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; speech rhythm; temporal organization; speech production; language structure; Finnish; Spanish; Swedish;

    Abstract : The study aims to describe and to explain some temporal aspects of the rhythmic structure of Swedish, and to compare Swedish, Spanish, and Finnish, characterized as rhythmically different languages.The temporal effects of some manipulations believed to have consequences for rhythm were studied in a series of experiments based on sets of Swedish sentences. 2. 2. Effect of timing training in golf and soccer players : skill, movement organization, and brain activity

    Author : Marius Sommer; Louise Rönnqvist; Charlotte Häger; Nicola Hodges; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Motor timing; rhythmicity; timing training; golf shot; golf swing; kinematics; precision; variability; coordination; movement dynamics; soccer; fMRI; mirror neurons; action observation; cerebellum; perception - action.; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : Background Although trainers and athletes consider ‘good timing skills’ to be critical for optimal sport performance, little is known in regard to how sport-specific skills may benefit from timing training. Thus, assuming that all motor performances are mediated by an internal timing mechanism, enhanced motor timing is expected to have positive effects on both planning and execution of movement performance, and consequently on complex sports actions as golf or soccer. 3. 3. Spatial and temporal regulation of neural stem cells in the developing brain by PRDM16

    Author : Li He; Qi Dai; Christos Samakovlis; Simon Hippenmeyer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Brain development; Neural stem cell; PRDM16; BMP signaling; Choroid plexus; Cortical neurogenesis; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : The mammalian brain comprises a large number and diversity of neurons and non-neural cells. Most of these cell types derive from a single sheet of neuroepithelium (NE) that contains a limited pool of neural stem cells (NSCs).  NSCs in the developing brain are under complex regulation to achieve maximum daughter cell type diversity. 4. 4. Genetic structure in the North- population connectivity and social organization in the Arctic fox

    Author : Karin Norén; Anders Angerbjörn; Páll Hersteinsson; Benjamin Sacks; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Biologi; zoologisk ekologi; Animal Ecology;

    Abstract : Genetic variation is distributed on different spatial and temporal scales, reflecting the ecological and geographical complexity in the habitat. In this thesis, the primary objective was to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the genetic structuring in the Arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus) and to identify the underlying factors forming these structures. 5. 5. Hydrogeochemistry and spatial variability of arsenic and other trace elements in the Lower Katari Basin around Lake Titicaca, Bolivian Altiplano. : Impact on drinking water quality and groundwater management

    Author : Israel Quino Lima; Prosun Bhattacharya; Jerker Jarsjö; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Arsenic; trace elements; multivariate analysis; spatial variability; hydrogeology; spatio-temporal variability; Lower Katari Basin; Bolivian Altiplano; alluvial sediments; Arsenik; spårelement; multivariat analys; rumslig variabilitet; hydrogeologi; spatio-temporär variation; Nedre Katari-bassängen; Bolivian Altiplano; alluviala sediment; Land and Water Resources Engineering; Mark- och vattenteknik;

    Abstract : Arsenic (As) contamination in drinking water is a world-wide problem. Thenatural origin of As, its mobility and transport are of great interest in BolivianAltiplano (Lower Katari Basin: LKB and Sothern Poopó Basin: SPB) due topresence of mineral ore deposits, brines, hot springs and volcanic rocks.
