  1. 1. Ternary Block Copolymer Systems - Phase Behaviour and Phase Structure

    Author : Birgitta Svensson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Theoretical chemistry; lyotropic; thermotropic; SANS; SAXS; scattering; semicrystalline; reverse micelle; micellar solution; liquid crystalline; phase diagram; phase behaviour; block copolymer; pluronic; poly ethylene oxide ; poly propylene oxide ; quantum chemistry; Teoretisk kemi; kvantkemi;

    Abstract : Ternary isothermal (25°C) polyoxyalkylene triblock block copolymer ((EO)x(PO)y(EO)x where x is the number of ethylene oxide, EO, segments and y is the number of propylene oxide, PO, segments) systems with water and p-xylene as selective solvents for the PEO and PPO blocks, respectively, were chosen as study systems in this thesis as these ternary systems are good model systems for the self-assembly of block copolymers. The phase behaviour has been studied at varied block copolymer molecular weight and relative PEO/PPO block ratio. READ MORE

  2. 2. Phase Diagrams, Microstructure and Phase Separation in Alkyl Glucoside Systems

    Author : Johan Reimer; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; micellar network; NMR diffusometry; microemulsion; microstructure; phase diagram; phase separation; phase behaviour; alkyl glucoside; sugar surfactant;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis work was to study phase diagrams, microstructure and phase separation in alkylglucoside systems. Both alkyl glucoside/water systems and microemulsions with alkyl glucosides have been studied. READ MORE

  3. 3. Catanionic Surfactant Mixtures and Binary Systems of Modified Fatty Acid Surfactants. Phase Equilibria and Structure

    Author : Malin Bydén Sjöbom; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; coacervation; asymmetry; bile salt; didodecyldimethylammonium bromide; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; catanionic surfactant mixture; intermediate phase; a-methylsubstituted sodium carboxylate; dodecylpyridinium bromide; ionic surfactant; polarizing microscopy; FT-PGSE self-diffusion; 2H NMR; SAXS; liquid crystal; micelle; phase equilibria; phase diagram;

    Abstract : Surfactant self-assembly is an important phenomenon that occurs in a number of processes in our everyday life. It is important to understand the forces and parameters that control and influence the self-assembly, as this knowledge can be used both in order to design surfactant systems with desired properties and for creating model systems, for example for biological processes. 4. 4. Thermodynamic modelling and assessment of some alumino-silicate systems

    Author : Huahai Mao; Bo Sundman; Gunnar Eriksson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermodynamic modelling; thermodynamic assessment; alumino-silicate system; slag; oxide system; CALPHAD; phase diagram; phase equilibrium; Thermo-Calc; compound energy formalism; ionic two sub-lattice liquid model; AlO2-1 species; Al2O3; CaO; MgO; SiO2; Y2O3; Materialvetenskap; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Alumino-silicate systems are of great interest for materials scientists and geochemists. Thermodynamic knowledge of these systems is useful in steel and ceramic industries, and for understanding geochemical processes. A popular and efficient approach used to obtain a self-consistent thermodynamic dataset is called CALPHAD. READ MORE

  5. 5. Investigations intothe crystallization of butyl paraben

    Author : Huaiyu Yang; Åke Rasmuson; Mårten Behm; KTH; []
